There’s an old saying, widely attributed to Will Rogers, that describes three types of people: “The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.” In matters of technology, I'm a proud member of the third group. As a perfect example, I’m writing this article from the smallest Mac OS X laptop I’ve ever used: It weighs just under 2.4 pounds, and is only 9 inches wide, 6.7 inches deep, and 1.3 inches thick.

That’s right, I bought a netbook and installed Mac OS X on it.

I've put OSX on a Dell Desktop and a laptop. It takes some tweaking, but it works nice...

The OSx86 project is a good thing. Very limited hardware support though.

Tried an Acer Aspire and also tried with VMWare. Final score:Hackintosh: 2, Me: 0 Probably going to get an old Mac Mini. I would have gotten one of the Dell Mini 9 but they stopped making them. How well does it work (if it works at all) on the 10" machines?

You should check the OSx86 wiki. It has hardware compatibility lists and lists of certain mass-produced computers/laptops and how well they work.

I dont agree with OSX86. I bought the real thing and it doesn't even compare to a hackintosh. Hackintosh just ruins what Apple is known for.

Well that's because Apple only writes code that supports a very specific set of hardware, in contrast to every other OS which has to support all kinds of hardware.

Done it with an MSI Wind. Works flawlessly, but I only did it so I could show the mac nerds that I could have Windows, or OSX but i really choose Ubuntu
