Orthodox Music for Download

Hi - does anyone know if there are any websites where you can download Orthodox music to an ipod? I am not real computer-literate. I just got a mini ipod and would love to be able to listen to our music, though. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you!!

I'm glad you posted this thread. I thought there was a music download section on the OCA site but until recently I couldn't download because I only used the internet at the library or friends homes. I had never looked at that section of OCA and I discovered that it is the downloads of sheet music.

Since I sing in the choir I was excited to find this site. I can go there and look at the music in advance instead of site "singing" (reading) it during services.

I too would be interested in those sites. I will check out the one you have been given already.

Check out itunes they have some orthodox music for download "Sing Praises-Orthodox christian Hymns sung by Teen Soyo" was the first full cd I bought from there. Then there is "Rumanian Chant Anthology" which I personally like it's one of those Chants from the Holy Land series. Then there are "Rachmaninov's Divine Liturgy" "Music from the Orthodox Liturgy" "Chants from the Holy Land" is a series that has some orthodox music, "Anthology of Sacred Music", "With Love from the Baltic and Caucasus" And this is just the cd's that I have found on itunes I am sure there are more.

Yeah, I wish I could find somewhere that has the sheet music to the stuff we do. I've been at OCA and other sites, and I still cannot find a single piece, so every Sunday is sight singing for me.

The new Napster has 42 tracks when I search on "liturgy" including

Pavlo Mezhulin, bass Viktor Ovdiy, tenor Kiev - TCHAIKOVSKY Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom

32 tracks when I search on "orthodox" although some of those are things like

Georgian Choir Of Pilgrims - A Collection Of Religious And Traditional Songs Of the Gregorian Orthodox Church

but it also includes things like

Choir Of The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate - Ispolaite Despota

There are 49 tracks when I search artists for "orthodox" including

Choir Of The Rumanian Orthodox Church, JerusalemA - Blessed Is The Man (Ps.1)

You can download Napster for free and try it out - if you want to burn the tracks to an ipod - look at napster to go. I know that if you want to burn a track to CD then you have to buy them outright tho. $.99 for most I think.

Everyone on here is so cool and knowledgable!! Thanks for all the responses - I did download Rachmaninov's Divine Liturgy from itunes onto my ipod. But I'm going to try the other sites too! I was able to drift off to sleep last night after listening to that beautiful choral music !!

I am sure that she has other things to be doing right now, but ask Grand_Duchess_Elizaveta. I sent her some Russian Orthodox folk music a while back, and a link to a Russian website where you can download a lot of Orthodox music for free.

I'd send it myself, but I kind of don't have access to the computer where I stored all that stuff anymore.
