  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I watched Orphan Black for the first time last Saturday on BBC America, and I enjoyed it. The plot involves a company involved in human cloning, and the clones discovering and asserting their own identity and turning on the company's intent for them. At least that's what I could gather from one episode. Some of the backdrop of the story is somewhat on the sleazy side, but I don't think it takes away from the anti-human cloning message the show seems to convey.

Has anyone else watched the show?

I love this show!! It's gripping, gritty, and has a strong vein of dark humor. It's definitely not for everyone, but if you can look past the adults-only aspects of it, this is brilliant for its complexity and intensity. I'm a TV snob, and most of what's on these days I consider not worth bothering with. Orphan Black is smart. Really smart. And there's generally at least one scene in each episode that has me gripping my husband's arm because of the suspense. Helena is insane and scary. Soccer Mom is wound so tight that her responses to life are frequently hysterical. I laughed so hard I was gasping at the pot luck episode. My husband hid my glue gun. I love EvoDevo. She's so brilliant and human - I think she's the best adjusted of the bunch. And Sarah is just trying to survive, protect her daughter, and figure out what's happening to all of them and why. Excellent show! And I'm not the least bit surprised that no one else has responded to your post.
