Hi there,
So not to break paradigm too much, but I actually believe that the Creation of God was started as a contest between God and the Devil about whose approach to Creation was the better approach.
The Devil contended greater flesh was the right approach and got dinosaurs and venomous species of various kinds; while God contended spirit was the right approach and got flourishing creatures of all kinds, insect, man, beast.
This accords with the scripture that a trained scribe is like a householder, who brings out of his treasure things old and new (paraphrase). Here specifically that out of the beginning Christ drew flourishing and hunting creatures.
This was at His Father's request and showed that the Christ had perfect compassion for all creatures - something that was lost with Eve taking the forbidden fruit, but which became great compassion, at the advent of Christ (in a mortal body).
