  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kent Hovind is a conman, fraud, liar and a tax evader. A poor Christian if ever there was one, and an even worse intellectual.

Christ died on the cross for him, didn't He?

I think that's a moderatorable offence to comment either way.

So, final FINAL words: Matthew 7:20. Anyone with eyes and the internet knows Hovind's fruits and we know them well.

From AI Overview:

Martha Stewart went to prison for lying to federal investigators about a stock sale in the ImClone Systems case.

Here is a recipe from her:

Ready to put a perfectly roasted turkey on your holiday table? This recipe includes a delicious herb butter for the turkey and is surprisingly easy to prepare. Before going into the oven, the bird is coated in a simple, flavorful rub of butter mixed with rosemary, sage, and thyme, which makes the skin crispy and golden and the meat moist and flavorful. Place the turkey on a bed of roasted vegetables—along with the turkey neck—to elevate the meat above the bottom of the pan and collect delicious drippings that you can use to make a rich gravy.

Question: Do you feel the same way about Martha's recipes as you do Kent's "recipes"?

If not, I submit the problem is on your end.

Apples and oranges, mate. Apples and oranges.

Martha's recipes have good results. Ken's don't.

How do you know he doesn't?

From Post 53:

Here is the second comment under the video:

37 years I was not believer. I had the same question and nobody could answered it. This answer changed my mind, changed my life, changed everything. God bless people like Dr. Hovind. Thank you God for opening my eyes.

And did you watch the video?

If so, did you hear the accolades he got at the end?

What you're displaying against Mr Hovind is called an "ad hominem".

From the Oxford Dictionary:

An argument or reaction directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.

It takes the focus off of what he's saying, and puts it on his character.
Conversely, if you create poor arguments based on weak observation and data, your reputation as a scientist gets repudiated.

You can be an awful scientist not worthy of anyone's time AND be wrong in the position you are maintaining.

So you can claim the defence of "ad hominem" for sure. IT just means nothing to the grand scheme of the evidence Hovind puts forward and it certainly doesn't lend credibility to him in any way.

I mean, if you ignore evidence found on earth, sure.

Only on paper.

Miller-Urey had to use a trap, just to preserve something they said should appear if they connected their dots.

Well, they connected their dots, got what they wanted, used a trap from keeping it from destroying itself, then claimed it was some kind of link in the chain of events that happened on a "primitive earth."

I'd love to discuss this further but this is so vague it almost doesn't make sense.

Don't worry.

Just consider it a lie and let it go.

If you don't think it's a lie, compare the video to Genesis 1.

Do you think God was pleased with his answer?
Couldn't tell you.
1) I'm not sure who you're talking about.
2) Not sure who is accurate. I would assume that God is pleased with truth over falsehoods though.
3) You talking about hovind or the poster?

I will say this: When one of my students get the correct answer on a science test, I can't say I've ever thought whether God was pleased that he answered the question correctly.

Yes. Did Hovind repent?

Did he need to repent [unto salvation] again?

Or did he get saved years earlier?

As far as repenting of his sins that ended him up in prison, I don't know.

But from our perspective, it's called "paying your debt to society."

(Unless, of course, it's academia judging him. Then there's no such distinction between "repenting unto salvation" [Romans 10:10] and "repenting of sins committed afterwards" [1 John 1:9].)

1) I'm not sure who you're talking about.

Kent Hovind entered an academia arena and gave a three minute (?) answer to someone who asked where God came from.

The audience cheered and clapped.

Some posters here think his answer is wrong, because he did time in prison.

Good thing he didn't say 2 plus 2 equal 4, else his "prison record" would show his statement to be a lie.

That's 100% not what any of us are saying.
