Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.
This is one of the more damaging myths about organ donation. Since organ retrieval/donation/acceptance is handled by a centralized organization there is no way to know ahead of time where the organ(s) in question may go. The hospital won't benefit in any way from letting you die so they can take your organs. They can't even be sure whether your organs will be donated until you have passed and your next-of-kin okays your decision. The folks you left behind get to choose whether to adhere to your decision. There is also the chance that your organs won't be of any use if you have an undiagnosed disease (HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, among others). There is also the hipocratic oath that physicians should abide by, they'd lose their licenses to practice medicine and face jail time if they were allowing people to die to reap organs. There is a law against selling organs in the US.
