Smoke Screen said:LOL! Donahue totally put the smack on "Billy." He didn't back down to O'Reilly's boisterous taunts. When O'Reilly would interrupt Donahue, Phil, stuck to his guns and fired back. All O'Reilly could do is yell and point his finger and try to act tough. I liked how he tried to make Iraq sound like a "terrorist state." Donahue said "Saddam was a ba$tard, but he was our ba$tard." All O'Reilly could say was that Saddam was a "swell guy." O'Reilly didn't even talk about what made Iraq a terrorist state. When Donahue brought up the picture taken with Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam in the 80's, O'Reilly shook his head and quietly said "allright, that's great." He had nothing to respond back to Donahue with.
Now comes the nephew part. Donahue said, "Now listen, you wouldn't send your children into this war Bill." The only thing O'Reilly could do was bring up his nephew's military service to include in his argument and tell Donahue he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. Then Phil said, "Congratulations, he's..." Then O'Reilly cuts him off and says in a whiny voice, "Yeah and he's a patriot so don't denegrate his service or I'll boot you right off the set." I liked Donahue's comment back to O'Reilly: In a calm parental tone, he said, "I'm not Jeremy Glick Billy. You can't intimidate me. I'm not somebody you can just spew all your loud...(Cut off)." Donahue said, "Your nephew is not your kid. (O'Reilly cut him off and said "He is my blood") You are part of a loud group of people who want to prove they are tough and send other peoples kids (Right here, O'Reilly is very flustered and said "Oh right" as he angrily looks down) to war to make the case." O'Reilly changes the subject by telling Donahue he has no clue on how to fight the war on terror. Where in this little segment did Donahue disrespect Bill's nephew's service? Donahue never said anything in that segment to disrespect Bill's nephew. What were you referring to?
Donahue totally had most of this 8 minute segment under control and treated "Billy" like he was a school kid. At the end, Billy had to back off from his stance on the Iraq War and say "The Iraq War is not something I embrace. It absolutely could be a tactical error. Optional war. And we have not waged it the way I had hoped we would have waged it." O'Reilly got whipped on this one. Maybe O'Reilly should have called security on Donahue, it would have saved him some embarrassment from getting schooled by a "Liberal."
Neverstop said:Even with all the mistakes Donohue made, Billy completely lost. He is the most disrespectful media person (along w/ Moore, Coulter, and Hannity) I have ever seen.
Whenever someone says something that Billy knows he can't defend he interrupts the person or tells them to "shut up."
u2bonoman said:Sorry but it's pretty clear that Donahue acted like an idiot. All he did was spout a bunch of conspiracy theories and lies. What's Bill supposed to say to that? He knows, we all know, Phil Donahue was lying. All Bill could do was sit there and either calm the situation or just out and about tell Phil Donahue to shut up. No one wants to hear a liberal ranting. I know I don't.
Bill never backed off his stance about the War on Terror. He's always had reservations about the way things are going, but it doesn't mean he isn't gonna just not support it because it's rough out there. And the way Phil Donahue referred to our troops as 'kids' was an insult.
MethodMan said:If Donohue was so compelling and in the mainstream, why is it that Bill still has the #1 rated show and Phil doesn't have one anymore?
Jacey said:What did Donahue spout that was a conspiracy theory?
Phil calling troops "kids" is an insult? At his age, a lot of people call anyone younger than them an insult.
Try again.

you're driving down the highway. on the left hand side, you see an el camino doing donuts in the parking lot of a grocery store with a couple of drunk morons hanging out of the back. on the right hand side, you see an ederly woman playing in the park with her grandchildren. what do people rubberneck to watch?
the idiot.
Smoke Screen said:And that's the way it is with people like O'Reilly. The guy lacks the intelligence to have a debate with substance, so he has to act like a bully, yell at people, lie, and cut them off when they are in the middle of burning him. For them to fight would have ended O'Reilly's career, which could have been a positive in the end. I'd gladly take one in the chin to get that lying fool off the air!
u2bonoman said:Sorry, but this is just wrong. Bill O'reilly tells it like it is, plain and simple. These things that people say are lies and moronic statements. What is there to defend?
And placing Hannity in the same group as Moore? That is just the most disrespectful thing ever. Sean Hannity is a great man, and a man of God. He knows what he's talking about.
u2bonoman said:No, I won't try again. It's a valid point. He's not calling them kids because they are younger. In fact, a lot of them are his age. He's calling them kids to manipulate the scenario. If they are kids, that means they are these vulnerable creatures, and we the adults are to be held accountable for sending them there.
As for conspiracy theories, if I really need to point them out, then there really is something wrong with the ears of liberals.
ballfan said:Say what you want but Donahue definitely backed off after O'Reilly warned him. Donahue wasn't smart enough to know going after the honorable service of our troops might have a personal element with O'Reilly. When it looked like Donahue was going in that direction I can't say I blame O'Reilly for clamping down on him. Donahue deserved it.
I don't know if it would hurt his career or not. Some rough stuff hasn't seemed to hurt Geraldo. Smacking old Donahue in the chops a couple of times would probably push O'Reillys ratings up a lot. I think I would have loved to have seen it. Smack, smack and old Donahue is groveling on the floor in fear of another pop and begging for federal intervention to protect him. He'd have his cell phone out, in a flash, calling FEMA and Homeland Security and maybe even Howard Dean, saying please come protect me because O'Reilly made me fallen and I can't get up.
Well we can dream anyway can't we. But it would have been great.
Neverstop said:It's one thing to cheer for violence against terrorists...it's a whole other ball of wax to cheer for violence between two Americans. Guess the good thing is, there's no discrimination.
ballfan said:I try to look at it in a positive light. It would be good for Donahue. Sometimes when certain lines are about to be or are crossed a good butt whooping is in order. It would be good for old Donahue's perspective. Really, it would be doing him a favor.
Neverstop said:Oreilly, Hannity, and Moore all make their living off of gullible people.
I listen to those guys a lot (only because it's best to know one's enemies) and they are so blatantly biased that they probably cannot even remember when they sold out. They know NOTHING of journalism.
What did Donohue lie about?
