O'reilly Factor: Oregon University student newspaper

Let me sum this up for some of those here that didn't quite get it. The Oregon University student newspaper is partially funded by public tax dollars. This means that there are liabilities for publishing hate speech, where a privately funded newspaper such as the independent newspaper our athiest guest brought up is protected under freedom of speech (in our country). ?

So you are saying that (in our country) when you accept tax dollars you no longer have constitutional rights? That is ludicrous, please provide a link to some source that can support this claim. I would also like to see a source verifying that this student newspaper recieves public funding, another poster has said that it is funded through the student activities fee which would make your objection unfounded. Finally, the question of whether or not the depictions constitute "hate speech" has to be decided in civil court. I am not quite sure who would be claiming damages though...

In short, please provide some evidence.

Bill O'Rielly is a bully, plain and simple. For those of you who watch his show, do any of you wonder where he finds the time to read every paper in the country (including student papers), looking for something to be offended at? If the man had dignity, it's long gone -- now he is the kid on the playground that nobody likes. For a supposed "journalist", O'Rielly has surprisingly little respect for the profession.

Yeah. And I think like 1 Christian died in the war on Christianity. Well, if you count fictional Christians.

Yeah, for sure. I can't get the media to print my cartoons, either. Since I am a Christian, this is just part of their War On Christianity. I'm a victim.

Pretty disgusting. The U of O student newspaper, "Emareld" wrote up some disturbing drawings of Jesus during Passion Week of this year degrading our Lord. The part that makes this more than just sick, the student paper receives a portion of their funding from tax dollars. The university President has failed to do anything. I imagine that will be changing now.

A source would be nice, otherwise I think this should be moved to a different forum.
