  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've been to Fairford (south west of Mildenhall). It is expensive, because of the exchange rate. When I was there, 1 Pound Sterling = 1.85 Dollars. This was last year. Gas is around 88pence per liter, which works out to $8 a gallon. To combat this, our per diem was $249/ day (meals and hotel).
Besides that, the people are great and there is a lot of chance to travel around the country. I loved my short 2 weeks there and long to go back.

Anybody been to Mildenhall? My husband got orders and we are moving there in November...

My dad got stationed there, and we lived there for nearly three years.

I liked England, and have wanted to go back ever since! But since that was more than ten years ago, I don't think I've got any relevant info for you, though. :-/ Just wanted to say best of luck!

I'm so sorry :(

Joking. I lived at Mildenhall for three weeks with the Army until I got my place in Brandon set up. I'm stationed at Lakenheath, which is practically walking distance :) If you have any questions, hit me up.

I started working with a recent retiree who had spent his last 12 years of the Navy at Mildenhall and one other place in the U.K. His kids are 15, 10, 6&6 so his last 3 were born there and it's all they knew. He and his family are having a tough time adjusting to life in the U.S.. He'd go back in an instant but the expense of living there would make his pension negligible.

Are there lots of spiders there??? I know it sounds silly- but someone said that all England had was rain and spiders...
And have you been to the base chapel? Whats the gym like?

England has spiders out the yin-yang. I swear, I think spiders share a web here. And cats. You don't wanna know about the cats.

I haven't been to the base chapel; I attend New Testament Baptist Church down the road from RAF Mildenhall.

To be honest, I never went to the gym at Mildenhall. I just went to the track and 3 mile course at Lakenheath and used the Srrike Eagle Complex gym. However, I will mosey on down to Mildenhall later this week and try to find the gym and look around.

Thanks! I imagine if the two bases are close together- I will end up going to whichever has the nicer facilities for things, like the gym and commissary. I'm at Ramstein now- and it's like that.

Are they just like daddy long legs.... or are we talking poisonous- arachnaphobia (the movie) type spiders..... :help:
