  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

biffy-You should detach yourself from the strong feelings you have for him. I agree with others who have posted along the same lines. But I will say that he just may be too occupied with other things to have a serious relationship with someone. So if he ever gets back to you, it would be a blessing.

jlhart-What's happened to you is awful. I don't think it's too much to ask of someone to give an answer, especially if it's just over the phone. It's not that difficult to be courteous. I've been there & I don't blame you for being angry.

I'm thinking courage is important...a life lived in fear is a life half lived...i'm going to contact him very casually as i always have and see if his response is normal or a bit colder than usual...pray for me...that i do what God would want...not just what i want...i think God would want me to be a little more courageous than sitting here reading...pondering...and thinking about it...it's not what life is about...

From Matthew, Jesus bid Peter to walk on water. It's all about taking that risk...to "walk on water" so to speak. And if it doesn't work out, Jesus will always lend His hand. Check it out...Matthew 14:20-something.

Ahhhhhhh....just keeping you updated....he emailed to let me know he was still alive and said:
"Very busy week but i'll let you know if i'm home to
have a chat."
Ok...i'm going to keep you all posted and if he is into me then this discussion can head towards...don't ever assume...be courageous and honest and you will never regret it!!...slight concern on the "if" but we will see....

Not too long ago someone thought they had sent me an email, but it never got to me. The answer was a no anyway, but it does happen....rarely. It was someone from my single's group and I have no reason to doubt his story since we see each other every once a while at church things.

i can update and i need some more hmm not sure what..maybe advice?!?!....i talked with him and he was very honest with me...he has had a broken heart for 2 nearly 3 years and hasent' been able to see anyone else in a romantic way since this girl and this upsets him...should i tell him how i am feeling...?? he was honest with me...or should i just be his friend for now...?!?!

All hope is not lost. In fact this might work out better in the end. Just be his friend, get to know him, be there for him. It sounds like a lovely start to a possible long-term relationship. The worst case scenerio is even though nothing may develop between you two, you will be helping him through a rough time.

Heya i have just been through two sudden deaths in my immediate family...both at once...a lot of my friends stayed away...i guess you could say they were almost scared or something to even approach me?!?! i have a lot of friends and maybe 3 or 4 have really been there...including my new friend who i've been telling you about in this post...i'm glad i didn't wipe him off just because i was unsure...or scared...hehe but he's a great guy i think a lot of him and i'm glad he's around ...i guess God really does know what He is doing even if sometimes life dosen't really make sense

If gals only knew the torment they inflict on men's souls sometimes. Yes, I'm not surprised that he has taken 2-3 years to get over a past relationship. Probably makes him want to proceed with caution in a new one.

But glad that the two of you are speaking again. Sorry to her about the loss of family members.
