Hi all. I've really enjoyed the little time I've been on here. I now find myself in a situation that, if it's God, stands to provide generously for my family... or, if it's satan, could strand us in a strange land FAR away from home with no neams to support my wife and son.

My wife and I both have job opportunities in Alaska. I stand to make $22/hr starting out, and my wife could make anywhere from $13-$20/hr as well. This kind of money, along with there being no Alaska state tax, along with residents receiving around $1900/yr in oil dividends, along with the cost of living being not much different than where we live in northern Georgia, could place us in a very comfortable life with the ability to fund ministries, even start ministries.

Only thing is, my wife's mom, and my grandmother, are getting on in years, and I want them to see their grandson as much as possible, as well as our son to remember his family elders. I know I have to do what I have to do to provide for my family... I've just never been in this position before. Were it not for our family ties, we'd move to Alaska in a heartbeat. I just want to know that this is God opening doors, and not satan saying "all these things i will give you, if you will bow down and worship me."

Thanks for y'all's help... I want this to he right.

Pray in earnest over this opportunity. Outline your priorities, which should have providing for your family paramount. Family ties are important, but secondary to your role as a provider as part of the marriage covenant you have entered into.

How does your wife feel about the situation? Are you both of one mind about the opportunity?

You need to ask yourself as well whether do these job opportunities will take up most of your time every day until you don't have much time to spend with God and your family or not.

Pray about it. Ask God for guidance on making the right choice. You must also remember God and His goodness upon you and your family. Do it all for His Glory!

From here, good luck on job opportunities and God Bless!

AMR, we both agree on the situation... actually, living in Alaska has been kind of a dream of ours ever since we vacationed in Denali Park in '07. My wife's actually the one who found out all we know about it.

connman, as far as time at work, I'd be working four 10-hr days once the job started. My wife would likely be pulling three or four 12s a week, nothing we aren't used to already. For that matter, it beats our current gig any day of the week... we haven't seen home in over a month!

To add, my wife would be working in a children's ICU, two things she is definitely in her element when working with... kids, and critical care(she's an EMT with ICU experience... she's actually told nurses and doctors what to do on occasion). My job would involve logistics on the military installations in the Anchorage area, and the man offering me the position is a sold-out believer in Jesus Christ whose belongings we happen to be carrying up to him in Alaska. So, it seems like one of those too-good-to-be-true moments, which is why I'm praying for God's guidance and confirmation, and asking those rooted in His Word for advice and prayer.

Families separated geographically are common thee days. My father was from England. I never saw my father's parents. We have one son in London, the other 1600 kms away. America is so large that just interstate can be a long way apart. That's the reality of life.

But, if you want to make family and absolute priority then you will make your decision on that basis.

From what you have written, you have your answer already.

"Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols." (Acts 17:16)

People will often claim they had a vision about God's will or a burden about this or that, when what they really mean is that they had some "impression". If that impression is Scipturally sound, I think it proper to say the impression was a nudge by the Holy Spirit, just as Paul was "provoked within him". Many persons expect some "road to Damascus" like answer from God, failing to note that Paul was not even looking for guidance from God on that fateful road!

Very amusing.

Obviously, provide for your family.

As for Satan, he should eat his family alive, after all his children think themselves great then him.

And there are clearly some very prideful children of Satan amongst us.
