Hi, Casi!

Apex, they are installing alternate skins that you can choose from. One will be for the headache-challenged person (probably a dark scheme). I will likely use that one. I have had the background of my posts set to red for over a year now to reduce the glare and eye strain, but I don't know if they are going to add that type of option back in.

Time and time again, I am amazed at CF's efficiency. The only thing I miss is the religion icons and the characters, bank, and the job. I expect that they'll be re-opened at some point or another, right? They've already got loans.

They still have characters... sort of. You have to go to the edit avatar option in the control panel and click on the use CF character option, which will bring you to a editing screen where you set up your character.
It doen'sn't seem like any of the items you had previously purchased carried over (at least I can't find them)

Your CF character will be used as an avatar (instead of having both).

and for the record I'm still trying to get used to the new setup as well.

Hey casi, long time no see

I received an email from MF to have a quick look at a thread and I thought I'd make ONE quick post and give a quick update on my life etc. The site looks like it's come full circle - back to what it originally was. It'd be interesting to find out what happened.

Firstly, thanks to those who sent me PMs until they filled my inbox. Some of them were quite touching to read after all this time. Many were enquiring about the "sad" face on my posts.

A lot has happened to me. When I last stopped posting I rushed down to Sydney to see my Dad who I thought at the time was dying. He has since recovered from his heart surgery, however he is still not a well man. At the same time I was confronted by a very unexpected financial crisis that shattered a number of plans that I had including the financing of a project I was working on.

However the biggest shock of all was the revelation that a man I personally knew and trusted was involved in incest. That took a while to come to terms with. Particularly since (despite all other indications) I believed his story first and not his daughter's.

In December I picked up a Government contract which has kept me horrendously busy - particularly trying to juggle it and my other clients. The contract finishes up on the 27th, so I'll need to find another source of income.

In January, in order to satisfy my masochistic tendencies, I enrolled in a Masters degree majoring in Information Security. Queensland University of Technology is visible from where I've been working so I thought it was too good an opportunity to pass up. It was quite a shock hitting the books again. Particularly when the subject matter is discrete mathematics and cryptography. However I think I must have done something right somewhere: I have been discussing the possibility of converting to a PhD program with my crypto lecturer and he will be supporting my application.

My usual day for the past six months is to leave home at 5:30am, travel 2.5 hours to Brisbane. Work until 5:00pm, race off to Uni until 8:00pm and then home by around 10:30pm. Somehow I try and fit family, church and my few remaining other clients into what's left. Oh, and my last exam is on Thursday.

Nice to see you Swart, but I'm sorry to read about all the things that have happened (the bad things, anyway). I hope your father continues to improve and pray that the Lord will bless him. I'm also glad to see you are furthering your career, though you seemed busy at that all the time before.

Miss you here, but best wishes for your off-computer life.

I am glad to see you as well Swart. I was just wondering about you as I was reading through the forum.

Since I last visited here, my second marriage was annulled (yeah, no, don't ask). I went back to school.

Recently I took a position as an HR Director for a contracting firm that had never had one. Set up their department and when it was all shiny and new they let me go with the explanation they were going a different direction.

This they did the day after I returned from South Dakota where I attended my mother's funeral.

It's been a long road the last two years. I see things have changed and yet not changed on CF.

Hope to be here more.

In an effort to revive this dying thread . . .
The Oil Find

Two old friends met one day after many years.
One attended college, and now was very successful.
The other had not attended college and never had much ambition.

The successful one said, "How has everything been going with you?"

"Well, one day I opened the Bible at random, and dropped my finger on a word and it was oil.
So, I invested in oil, and boy, did the oil wells gush.
Then another day I dropped my finger on another word and it was gold.
So, I invested in gold and those mines really produced.
Now, I'm as rich as Rockefeller."

The successful friend was so impressed that he rushed to his hotel, grabbed a Gideon Bible,
flipped it open, and dropped his finger on a page.
He opened his eyes and his finger rested on the words, "Chapter Eleven."

This week has really been an extraordinary one for my family. My youngest brother passed the Sacrament for the first time and my other brother, who suffers from severe anxiety, blessed it for the first time after having been a Priest for a year and a half. On top of all of that, my sister is reporting to the MTC on Wednesday. I may not follow their religion anymore, but I am very proud of them all nonetheless and I just wanted to share my joy with all of you.

I think that's great you support them no matter what. That's what family is all about. My son is on a mission in South Carolina and will be coming home in May. I still support his decisions to be active in the LDS church and I'm proud of him for following his convictions.

I'm glad you had a great week.
