  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

[open] Nursing Bra Confusion

I am getting two different pieces of advice (from two pregnancy boards and the books I read) and I need you to help me clear up the mystery.

1. Buy a good nursing bra before baby is born and take it with you to the hospital. What happens when my boobs get bigger when my milk comes in? Go buy another one that's a cup size bigger?

2. Buy a good nursing bra after baby is born and after your milk comes in so you can get a good fit. What happens when my boobs shrink back to normal size, though? Go buy another one that's smaller?

I'm just trying to save myself thirty bucks here. I don't know whether to get one now in my normal size (my D cup boobs didn't get bigger this pregnancy, thankfully) or get one later in a bigger size? :tutu:

I was a "D" while pregnant and a "DD" when my milk came in. Before I had him, I bought one bra in size DD because everyone said to have one bra in a size larger than I normally wear. After a few weeks I was back into my smaller bra size (smallER, lol) and bought more nursing bras then. I have 3 nursing bras and use nursing tanks a LOT.

Nursing tanks are great because even if you're a bigger bust size you can wear them without a bra. Glamourmom tanks are expensive but very worth it and give great breast support.

I got my bras at WalMart ($7-15) and Motherhood ($11-16).

I also wouldn't suggest getting the full coverage bras, especially if you're a larger cup size. The motherhood bras are GREAT because they're lower cut. The one bra that I got that was "full coverage" has been difficult to nurse in, especially when wearing a nursing shirt over it. Just the mechanics of pulling it down without the snap jabbing in the baby's face has been difficult, so the lower cut bras work better for that :)

Wow not wear a bra, lol, they were like 50 pounds and leaking like a faucet.... I needed a bra or a tank that I could put nursing pads in all the time.... I even had to sleep in one, it was no fun at all !

Me too.

And Beth I just bought 3 at Target for 12.99 each, they are great and I bought them in the cup size I am normally.

I could use some suggestions myself. They don't make nursing bras my size. Heck, they don't even make regular, unpadded bras my size. I thought maybe now I could buy a regular size bra, but I'm still not big enough! I wear training bras, but I'm guessing that won't work well for nursing :)
