I used to be a regular internet "debater" with aetheists, non-christians, and "christians" who believed in Carl Sagan more than the Bible. But I've found it impossible to keep up with, and not even worth the time. You make post, then come back the next day to see that your one post has illicited about 30 responses from non-aetheists and they used all sorts of word-twisting tactics to make your post sound like it makes no sense. So I've given up on internet debates and stuck to personal face-to-face debates. That way, people have to rely on logic and their own knowledge, instead of looking up "X" article written by "Y" scientist and then posting it on here as their proof that the Bible is wrong (and often, if you actually take the time to read these long winded articles, they are full of half-truths, unsubstantiated theories, suppositions, and outright falsehoods).
The biggest problem though, is that they are willing to take on faith the word of so-called scientists yet they can't take on faith ANYTHING that the Bible says. Do they realize the hypocrisy there?
Don't let it stress you Kelly. Those who don't know the Lord will use any excuse they can to deny His existence - so they can try to go on believing that they aren't beholden to God. And that's why you'll never be able to reason with most of them, because realizing the truth would mean admitting that the Lord is in control.
EDIT: For example, I just went to the Formal Debate section where there is a topic about God allowing suffering to exist in this world, and basically is saying "why would God let all this happen?", and trying to point out to Christians how this doesn't fit with the pciture they have of God. But we know that God didn't cause this, we did by our sin, and by our continuing to sin. But that explanation will NEVER be acepted by a non-believer.
