  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Introducing Gabriel Adam! 9lbs 10.9oz and 22 inches long at birth~

So we arrived at the hospital at 7:30am only to be skuttled away to the triage area because the ward was full. They started me on the pitocin, hooked us up to the heartbeat/contraction monitor, and blood pressure cuff of doom. Contractions were still pretty mild when we got our own room at 11 so the Dr. came in and broke my water shortly after we got settled. They started getting moderately painful around 1 so when offered an IV injection med to take the edge off, I said yes. It only seemed to make me uber woozy/sleepy.
From then until about 4, things are pretty blurry as contractions got so bad all I could do was hold on for dear life while screaming for all I was worth. Though along the way, I do remember Gabe getting his scalp lead and me an internal monitor for contractions. It started feeling like I was only getting a minute and a half between contractions to rest which were normally spent in tears so when they asked again if I wanted an epidural, I caved. I don't think I could have endured another internal exam without kicking the doctor in the face without it. (Though I noticed he started sitting on my foot during them so maybe it's not that uncommon..)
I spent the next couple hours taking naps and enjoying not feeling any contractions. Then, at about 6, they told us I was only 5cm dialated and a c-section was starting to look like a possibility. So I took another nap!
He came back at 7 and surprised everyone by saying I was complete~ So half an hour of pushing and a slight episiotomy after starting to tear, Gabriel was finally born at 7:35pm!

Things are going well so far~ We just got discharged last night and I'm winging it at home by my self! He had a doctor's appointment this morning for jaundice.. We'll have to put him under the phototheripy lights or whatever they're called and keep going to the doctor until it's gone.
My milk has yet to come in but we're doing our best to get the hang of this booby thing hehehehe~

Thank you, all, for your prayers as I know things were safely in God's hands through that long day.

Goodness! Took me all day to finish this post between doctor's visits and Tadpole!

WOW! Big Baby!! Thats wonderful that you were able to deliver him vaginally and they didnt have to do a c-section!! I am so glad to hear that both you and Gabriel are doing well. Dont feel a bit bad about taking the epidural..in my opinion when you have that horrid pitocin its pretty much impossible NOT to get the epidural cuz the contractions are so overwhelming with that pitocin..i remember TOO WELL. Anyways..its all over..your both safe and healthy. Sorry to hear about the Jaundice, my Luke had that too. Are they letting you do the at home bilirubin lights? i didnt know about that option and luke had to stay an extra 24 hours overnight at the hospital with those stupid lights..that was a nightmare. Insist on the AT HOME lights!! The jaundice will be fine..breastfeed him like crazy to help that jaundice go away quicker. The milk will come in soon enough! Thanks for sharing your story.

Congratulations!!! He's a cutie!

I 2nd insisting on Home bili lights. They even have a "biliblanket" that has the lights in it, so all you have to do is wrap the baby up in it. And of course, putting the baby in the sunlight through a window (stripped down to his diaper) works really well also.
