Mon, Tues, and Wed I have someone coming to visit me so I probably won't have anything until Wed night unless I can come up with something in the next few days at work...I'll try, I promise.

what sort of time frame do we have for creating our characters.. i'm working on mine.. what is the minimum info i can bring to you for acceptance?

Time frame is for the most part negligible as I'm still hoping for more players. The minimum info you can bring is a filled out Character Profile Template I posted in the first OOC post.

Here's my profile:


Name: Lorena (Rena) Sanchez y Álvarez de Bería

Physical Description: Rena stands at about 5 ft 7” and is about eighteen years of age. She has dark brown hair, large brown eyes, and smooth Brazilian-looking skin. Her clothes are simple homespun; brown trousers and an undyed tunic. She is currently not in possession of boots or a cloak, or any weapons – even a belt knife.

Physical Skills (Weapons and Magic etc.): Rena was raised a village girl, and has no fighting skills of which she knows (yet!).

Brief history/Bio: Rena comes from Bería, a Lavarríanvillage that nestles midway against the southern side of the Sarandí Mountain Range. At present, she has little recollection of her past, only vague images and feelings, and half-remembered facts.

Character Flaws/Weaknesses: As the youngest of a family, Rena is used to being looked after by parents or her brother. She is somewhat naïve but is sensible enough to be cautious of the outside world. Her independence hasn’t yet been tested. She has a tendency to brood, a characteristic exacerbated by the soul-taint.

Character Strengths: Her native intelligence and common sense go far in helping Rena to deal with situations. She has good adaptability and is eager to learn just about anything.

Personality: Rena is a nice girl; friendly and quick to help others. She is coming into her own in the world, but much of her past is hidden from her, and may prove to be painful. She doesn’t know much about the world, and thus isn’t sure of her own place within it.

This is just an update to let everyone know that I've added in a map of Caldera to the first OOC post. Hopefully nobody will steal it. That should help you all get an idea of where your characters might hail from. For example, StormSwept: you could now pick a settlement or forest or something near which Dania was "found" by the passing knight and add it into your profile.

If you guys can't make some of the letters used in the map (e.g.: ê, í, ó), then I'm sure we can all figure out what you mean anyway. Incidentally, if anyone wishes to know how to make them, simply go to "Insert" in Word and pick "Symbol" from the options.

So, do you think the map will help you in the RP? I'm eager for your feedback about it.

Anyhow, just wondering, what software did you use to make it? Looks cool.

Thanks, Stormswept. I made the map using AutoREALM, printed it out and then scanned it onto my comp as a .jpeg file. Autorealm is a great free mapping program, if you're into that sort of thing (there is useful info in the Tutorials to help you get started).

All righty, so Dania is Parvalléan by default of having been found there. Rena is Lavarrian. A good starting mix. Will she be journeying to become a Wyrm Hunter, Stormswept? If you have any ideas as to how Dania and Rena could meet, pitch them my way. If not, we can figure out together how she gets so far from home... That is, unless you have other ideas as to how she could meet up with everyone else.

As I've mentioned in the first OOC post, the story will open with Rena, and it's up to you guys to figure out how your characters are going to fit into the plot. This is something you all need to let me know, and I will chase you up on it. How will your character be introduced, and how will he or she fit into the basic plot outline I've provided? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you need to go read the first OOC post more carefully.

Still waiting for other expressions of interest, and character profiles from those who have already done so...

Name: Severino Arturez y Sandalez de Tuvera (Seve Sandalez)

Skills: Exceptional swordsman, uses a highly acrobatic style, so very agile. Experienced scout. Heightenned sixth sense and resistance to illusion. Strange ability to see heat (secret).

Description: About six feet in height, Lean and muscular. has light brown hair that falls forward over his eyes, which are brilliant green and kind of slanted. If you looked closely, you'd see that his pupils were slightly elongated. He wears plain brown leather right down to his boots; trousers tunic, gloves and sword-belt.

Background: Born to a large family, he was the youngest of six. His one dream while growing up was to join the Wyrm Hunters and be like his grandfather. He disowned his father midway through his teens to fulfil that dream, and succeeded after eight years in becoming one of the best. He might even have become great, except that earlly in his career he went through an ordeal that took the lives of his friends and left him with a hideous secret...

Flaws: Has a rather biting sense of humor, which is actually a shield to protect himself from the deep impulses he must control at all times. Seems sociable, but has a tendency to slide away from conflict and high-tension situations, yet can be dangerously reckless.

Strengths: Loyal to Dios, to friends, and to the cause. A good leader if needed. Can be fun to be around. Very determined if pushed.

Here's my character

Name: Garcia Damian y Tiago de Salaja

Physical Description: 6’ 0”, short brown hair, blue eyes, thin about 130 lbs, and 23 years old. Dark green cloak, with a tunic underneath. Also has a coat of mail under his tunic. A leather belt around his waist holds the sheaths for his two short swords. Each of the sheaths has a small knife holder on the outside. Also has a dagger on his leg, hidden by his left boot. When his “dark side” comes out his eyes gain a red glow.

Physical Skills: Good with his swords, but not physically strong, and was never trained in hand to hand combat.

Brief history/Bio: Born in Salaja to a father who was part of a continuing line of wyrmhunters, so Garcia’s training began relatively early in his life. Saw his father killed by a Wyrm and got the soul taint because of it. He was never treated for the soul taint and as a result developed a second personality that comes out when due to stress, anger, or other factors such as that.

Character Flaws/Weaknesses: Very much a loner because of the soul taint, tries to separate himself from others because he can not control himself.

Character Strengths: Brave, and very quick thinking.

Personality: Quite and reserved, tries to stay away from people because of the soul taint, but when he does meet people is friendly. His other side due to the soul taint is fierce, defiant and just all around mean.

All right, so far we've got: Rena Sanchez, a young Lavarrían girl who doesn't remember much about her family or life but is haunted by unnamed nightmares (and who will be heading north toward Maullón); Seve Sandalez (whom I keep calling Steve in my head!), an exceptional Médanosi Wrym Hunter and swordsman who possesses some hideous secret *DA DA DUM!* (Is he currently in Médanos, MD, or will he be travelling elsewhere at the start of the RP? Just trying to co-ordinate where they can all meet up); and Garcia Tiago, a Zalanjan Wyrm Hunter who carries the untreated soul-taint and is thus being slowly taken over...

It's a good start; two Wyrm Hunters and one unknown girl with a secret of her own. Considering the tidbits MD has included in Seve's profile concerning heightened senses and so forth, I thought I'd remind everyone that all the things I listed in the first OOC post as "having to do with Dios" are all things that have to do with Wyrm Hunters - and even believing non-Wyrm Hunters - as well. To recap, they are:

• Acid- and flameproof legal paper. (Everyone can use this stuff, except those who lie. This stuff is better than an oath - people can't just break promises or agreements when written on such paper. Evil-doers hate it.)

• 
  [*] Flying horses. (Rarely seen by the general populace, though they exist in legend. Only Wyrm Hunters are tolerated by these horses, and they are sensitive to the soul-taint, so anyone too tainted the horses will not allow near them. They have evil counterparts [see Diablo section].)
  
  [*] Legal processes that teleport. (Dios does the teleporting, not people teleporting themselves willy-nilly).
  
  [*] Near-death experiences. (Again, more something Dios grants rather than characters astral travelling all over the place).
  
  [*] A staff that summons whirlwinds.
  
  [*] “Magic” doors.
  
  [*]The pen of fate. (Won't be used in this RPG)
  
  [*]Angelic beings.
  
  [*] “Magic” armour to defend against Diablo and/or his minions’ magic, and influence. (The latest in Wyrm defence! Every Wyrm Hunter must have one!)
  
  [*] A “magic” phrase to puncture Diablo’s illusions. (This is something the Wyrm Hunters would definitely have knowledge of, as well as Dios’ other true servants within Caldera.)
