  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's been over a week since Sylvie posted, and five days since my last entry. If there's no reply by Tuesday, I'm going to move his character semi-gently to one side so I can post. Consent of the Mastah?

My gravest apologies. School and the band have complicated things, and my usual computer/internet problems. I'll try to post ASAP. However...it seems there is a little to cover at the moment:

[QUOTEWoF]Syl? You may want to rethink the whole vampire thing, I dunno. I wonder if there's anything close. Half-vampire? One quarter? We should discuss this because I do want to stick to what the Christia Committee agreed upon while at the same time giving players freedom in character creation. Time to put the thinking caps on. There has to be a way for you to have something equally creepy/captivating. [/QUOTE]

Hmm...

Okay so I never exactly specified whether he was human infected or vampire by race. Either way, what are the differences? I just thought of a guy with the disadvantages . . . not traveling in the sun, the need for blood, etc. It makes for an interesting conflict.

Quite possibly. I'm replying as I read, so I'm not sure what Shad's reply to that is quite yet, but alright. Soon enough. One question though, out of curiousity, why Elven?

And as a note, I imagined that though Daniel is a vampire, he can choose not to kill innocents (including the party he encounted IC-side). So would that be more of an infected thing? Course, you did say that "no race is inherently evil".

Hey, you guys have any IMs? I have Yahoo and Gtalk. If interested my handles/logins/whatever are Woman0fFaith and WoFHb11.1 respectively.

Mine is mmysl@yahoo.com for Yahoo IM.

Racial vampires are not evil, but viral vampires are. Like I said, I intended the viral vampires to be classical vampires, which were always evil or\and demonic in nature. The undead vampire, if you will.

Fair enough. But still, wouldnt it be simply a disadvantage? Unless it actually changes the mind... For instance, a blind person could attempt to stand straight, and after practice he could. However, he still might stumble and fall if he is not careful.

Okay, bad example. I'm tired, so give me a break.

This way, choice and free will are accounted for, and since the option of choice is still open, I can see several ways for the vampire to remain good.. Drink animal blood, for instance. Or beg for donations.
What do you mean by "if the virus is accepted"? Could he accept who he is and not turn completely evil?

Agreed. Now as a small note: ("...this is the reason that vampires hate\fear crosses." Just curious. Have you seen Fright Night? )

And as another note, I also agree on the death sentence concept. Even better for conflict, depending on how long he's got.

Okay Okay I'm here. I still have no clue where we are goin for this, so I'll let Shad decide Daniel's fate, per say. He's the Christia vampire guy here.

ahem... Am I clear to move Syl's char semi-gently aside, since it's Wednesday now/

*glares at MD.* No faith in my return?

Good God. I have no time to check the IC. Give me a wee bit more time. I'll try for tonight. I'm goin out at the moment. Let me know what everyone thinks of this hideously long post and I'll be back soon, promise!

Yeah yeah. Great now I need to do a major readup on the goings on. I don't even know why I'm up this late, all things considered. I got home very late and I'm not going to be able to post. I have a gig tomorrow at two so wish me luck. I should be able to post tomorrow morning, so don't get all panicky. Nite everyone, an I'll be back in a few hours.

Remember rule #1, real life is more important. Take care of all your RL stuff and don't mind us. I am slowing the thread back down to ensure no one gets overwhelmed with having to read too much. Sorry I slipped up on that Sylvie. I am sure you will do wonderfully this afternoon, provided you got enough sleep. Posting at 4 in the morning? And Light? You're up at 5? Oy.

Based on that massively long post, Sylvie, and thanks for addressing all of that, it seems you have a handle on what you want to do with Daniel. We just need to get the whole issue finalized asap. Yes, however, we should wait for one more word from Shadow. Then I want your take on it, Syl, and we can come to a final resolution.

Okay, here's my ruling, since, apparently, I became an authority on this. I'm flexible. Daniel can stay as is, with the minor addition of the occasional episode of overly violent (particularly vampiric) thoughts.
By resisting the virus, I meant resisting the twisting effects. He can accept the fact the he is cursed and doomed to die, but he's not given over to, uh... the dark side, if I can put it that way.

I think I covered everything. Oh wait: No. I haven't seen Fright Night. Why?

Alright. Good. And yes WoF, late again. I swear I'll post in the next four minutes...well okay five. And thanks Shadow, that resolved everything, I'd say.

As for Fright Night, I was referring to when you said that vampires feared crucifixes. There was a scene in Fright Night where the vampire approached a hero holding a crucifix -- the vampire bent it in half and said "you gotta have faith." I don't remember what relevence that had to what we were talking about, and I'm running short on time so I'll not go recheck at the moment. I pray it actually had meaning and I'm not wrong haha.
