He was floating weightlessly through a sea of white nothingness. Was this part of his dream? Was this…
“Ellone? Not again.”
The whiteness faded and he felt himself lying on a rough; hard surface. This was not his bed. It was someplace else. What had happened? Was he…
“Squall?”
…Laguna? No. Someone had called him by his name. So then, where was he? If Ellone had sent him back through time again, he didn’t care. He would just lie there and sleep unbtil he was back in his bed in his dormitory at BalambGarden.
“Squall.”
He didn’t budge. That wasn’t the intercom. He wasn’t needed.
“Squall!”
Leave me alone.
“Wake up, Squall!”
No.
“Please!”
Hands shook him, but it was the voce that forced him to open his eyes. It was her voice.
“Rinoa?”
“Rise and shine, sleeping beauty,” said Rinoa, who knelt beside him. “Do you know where we are?”
Squall sighed and sat up.
They were outside; a gentle breeze blew through his hair. Thesky above them was blue with puffy white clouds. The place was a ruin. Trabia Garden? Centra? No, it looked too different.
He stood up, brushing the dirt from his clothes.
“Figured it out?” Rinoa asked, getting to her feet.
Squall shook his head.
“Do you think—“
Her sentence was cut short by a loud Bang! behind them. Squall spun around, reaching for his gunblade…which wasn’t there. “Where--?”
“Irvy Kinneas!” Came another grlish voice to their left. “You scared me!”
“Pardon me, Miss Selphie.” Irvine the sharpshooter, said; holstering his gun. “Thought I was in the training center.”
“Yo, where are we?”
Zell…
“I could ask the same thing.”
…and Quistis.
“Woohoo! Everybody’s here!” Selphie exclaimed enthusiastically despite the confusion. “I thought I was in the library, then FLASH! Here I am.”
Squall wasn’t really listening. He picked up his gunblade, which he had spotted on the ground just feet away. Lionheart. He felt powerless without it. Somehow, he felt he was going to need it for whatever the heck they seemed to be heading into. Wherever they were, they had to find out where and why. And if they couldn’t find answers, then…oh well.[/FONT]
