  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, Ignight, that sounds like a good idea. The daughter of a Lord would be fine.

Thank you Star. Remember, the rich people are the generally the good people in this roleplay (quite the opposite of normal). Raphael, it is probably best if you stick to developing that character first. If you think you can handle it later, we may have a need for another character late in the game.

Now...here's a question. Do we want someone to roleplay the less-than-good side? Or should I just NPC all of that? I'm up for either way.

Well what usually ends up happening for people who role play baddies is is that they end up having a role to play for only 20% of the time.

I would suggest anyone wanting to do a bad guy would also either pick up other separate bad guys or one seriously awesome good guy....

It'd be best if you'd like to stay involved at all times. However, if you like having to only be involved in short prearranged spirts, then go at it. Just a warning that bad guys don't get as much lime light as good guys (at least when interaction with other characters is concerned).

And Sam, I'll work on that profile soon....I'm a bit stumped at the moment re-reading all the materials you sent me to read up on so I know what I'm doing in here ;)

I also want to say that since this isn't a "quest" plot there is much less good guys on the road together time and more plotting behind the scenes. So if we get enough villains there is a possibility for them to get far more playing time than usual. But I am going to be picky with my villains, as this is a character piece, and those are only as good as the conflict.

To address the leadership issue, Star's the director, Sam and I are producers. :) She makes all calls once we get rolling, we just try to keep it on track. :)

One more thing to remember. Sort of like Drama said: the "bad guys" might not always be perceived as bad. They're in a city and it's politics, so even the evil characters will probably get to have somewhat normal conversations with the "good" characters. In other words, just because your character is ultimately evil doesn't mean he or she can't help the good characters out sometimes. :) Even if only to further their diabolical schemes.

Not me. I have plenty on the floor already.

But . . . i've gotta say that it helps greatly the tension, to have PC villains. My first RPG that i was GM of was heavy on politics, and the thing is, there isn't that clear of a line between god and bad. The fun comes from the friction between opposing agendas, so having politically-minded PCs . . . They don't HAVE to be technically evil, just have aims that clash with each other.

Ah, good point, Sam. I suppose I've been doing traveling RPGs too long ;)

But another point to consider about it all is that even though no one knows the agendas of the bad guys, it might be a good idea to work them out far far ahead of time so that you're not making it up as you go along and hope it all adds up to something.

Work from the ending backwards so that you'll have reasons for doing actions now. One thing I hate about villains in movies and things is when the ending comes and there was really no good reason for all the things that happened in the film or book but were in fact just fillers to help the good guys figure it out in time to STOP said villain.

And other villains don't have to be villainous to each other. Alliances between goodies and baddies, or goodies with goodies who turn out to become baddies, baddies and baddies, baddies and goodies who are turned by the said baddie.

I mean everything is possible and the more you PM between each other and myself, the more you plot and twist, the more complex and entertaining the whole thing will be :)

And don't worry about it all coming together in the end....that's why I'm here. Just let those creative juices flow and I'll do my best to wind it all together so that Drama and Sam can have their story. I do work for them you know ;)

Don't worry about it LK, I thought you might when you left Second Saga. Real life first! Always my policy in my threads.

Also, very true MD.

Yeah, things are just going way to fast for me to keep up with right now. Hopefully when school starts back and thigs slow down a bit I can re-join Seconds Saga, and this one later.
