This scientific discovery was discovered by scientists.

The Permian fossil, discovered in the Italian Alps in 1931 and named Tridentinosaurus antiquus, is shaped like a lizard and has a dark coloration, which researchers thought was preserved skin. However, in actuality, most of its body is human-made, according to a new study published Feb. 15 in the journal Palaeontology.

Researchers made the discovery when they reexamined the fossil with modern techniques, including 3D modeling, ultraviolet (UV) photography, high-powered microscopes and chemical analysis.

From the wiki page on it:

"For example, UV light revealed that the body outline fluoresced, something that fossilized organic materials do not typically do, but coatings like glues, varnishes, and some pigments do. It is unknown when the forgery was made or who was involved, but the discovery of carbonized plant fossils with a similar dark outline in a similar locality played a significant role in misleading paleontologists. Thus, previous inferences derived from observations of the body outline are unreliable, and the validity of Tridentinosaurus is questionable.

The only visible bones belong to the hindlimbs, consisting of poorly preserved femora, tibiae, and fibulae. While the body outline is not real, the researchers did observe skin impressions near the shoulder and pelvic girdles, consisting of small rhomboidal scales that may represent osteoderms. It is possible that future analyses, such as using CT scan technology, may reveal more bones."

Sad about the forgery part, but considering that there might be evidence of more of the skeletal structure found, that creates an interesting possibility.

What happens if you find something that is a forgery but unintentionally leads to finding out more? What do you call that? Apart from thorough investigative work.

Probably that using modern techniques, they found it was a partial forgery.

Sometimes the point is right there in front of you to read in black and white.

For all the gum-flapping about Piltdown Man or Nebraska Man from the people who don't accept evolution, discoveries like this are never made by 'scientific creationists', who would seem to be strongly motivated to do so.

Instead, it's the built-in error-correction of science that slowly refines what we know about the physical world.

Ive seen claims of massive faking of fossils
so as we see from those sorts, theres their
own way of interpreting.

The posture and proportions struck me
as resembling bad taxidermy.

I love the serendipitous true discoveries that are made by going "all the wrong directions". It may be more often than we realize, that truth is found by false pursuits, or at least, by ignorant pursuits.

To be fair, how often have you found something cool at the shop when you go in and forget what you went in for?

Can you really be said to care when your tagline is SCIENCE CAN TAKE A HIKE?

Depends on how well you know me.

I'm also fond of saying science is a gift of God.

And now, just recently, science is Christian.

Now, about YOUR tagline that you've called me out on several times ...

Oh yeah, we're well aware that you flip-flop on your position of "Science is God given.... but only when it agrees with me or when I want to agree with it! Any other time, it can take a hike."

It's either one or the other. The bad cannot be ignored and removed from the good, especially if you claim it's God given, just on your own whim.

So I notice.

I don't think you quite get it, do you?

I'm talking about maturity without history.

How many times have I made this point, warden?

Is this the first time we've discussed this?

QV Post 595

Mamma mia.

Repeat after me:

Embedded AGE ... Embedded AGE ... Embedded AGE

NOT embedded history.

Embedded Age = Maturity WITHOUT HISTORY

(Is someone else posing under your name, because you're acting like you don't even know what I believe.)
