Online services do have potential to reach a wider audience, but I believe very much that outside of the internationally known megachurches, the only ones who are going to tune into any given local congregation's streamed service are people who already have some kind of connection to that church.

I'm certainly thinking that it would be a shame to abandon our online worship presence, when this is all over. I am pondering what would be the best thing to keep doing alongside our physical gatherings, and how best to do it is an integrated part of our overall offering.

Its doable.... but the business model would need to be reworked. It's not that easy for smaller organizations to collect money online..... or provide a good reason to give... since lights, gas, cleaning costs go out the window.

I suspect we will be back in the buildings as soon as government allows.

I am in IT and tutor it, I was okay with technology but I hate this online stuff now. When we were not using it full time it was fun but now it is just drudgery. I hope that people don't abandon what the Bible says and still assemble together. This topic is making me depressed

I think it’s an excellent idea but then my congregation was already posting the services online. It’s great for those already home bound, or when we’re out of town and want to stay up to date with the rhythm of the church, for those wanting to investigate a church before visiting and even if I attended the service in person I get more out of the teaching by reviewing it later on my own.

What if we were to do the 'performance' on line and meet as a family? This might attract a greater following...

I wonder how many congregations will continue online services given that they are reaching a far greater audience.

Maybe a social media platform combined with a Christian community would be a better way to share our faith.
We were doing it for years before the pandemic. Guess that’s the reason we had a seamless transition. Since we have a large military community many who once served in this area and went to my church were checking in to our services overseas to keep in touch.

My church is streaming church services on sundays and wednesdays,
plus every morning we have a devotion with our pastor.Twice a week we have zoom meetings with a lady from my church. When we get back to church it will be wonderful, but I am enjoying all this livestream stuff especially the zoom meetings.I hope those continue even after quarentine is over.

I think you're right on Carl. There has been a paradigm invite people to church. But many people may not like the idea of getting up, getting prepared and driving somewhere but if they could enjoy online services from their home for a period of time then the desire to go to the place might more so come later.
