LAN is short for "Local Area Network." A LAN party is where a group of people bring their computers to a lecture hall or something (some place with a LAN), and play network games late into the night when they should be studying.

They're quite fun. But I'm an old man, now, and I can't stay up as late as I used to.

My brother calls it Pop, too. (of course, I laugh at him when he says it, too...)

Canada, eh? Some of my friends go up there on weekends to play poker at the casinos. They come back with new iPods and such. I haven't been to Canada since I was a kid. I seem to remember the public restrooms were really clean.

Met a bunch of my college friends that way. We'd telnet into the campus mainframe, find out who else was online, and hang out there until the wee hours of the morning. Ah, the good old days...
