You don't understand. "Geek" is a badge of honor at RPI, where I did my undergrad. We were Geeks! Truly.
Not like MIT geeks. They were too geeky to do cool things. But we weren't too cool to do geeky things. We did awesome things. And we had fun doing them. And we weren't ashamed to do them. It was unabashed freedom to do whatever we set our minds to. We could play paintball, or we could go to a LAN party. And if somebody was too cool to LAN, or too geeky to paintball, their loss.
True Geek is cultivated.
No shame.
