  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought I would ask a Calvinist a question... ^_^

What is the one thing you want others to know about biblically Reformed Protestantism?
God is not the author of sin but orchestrates all things for his glory

The most astonishing thing is not that God punishes sinners; given Who He is, anything else would be incomprehensible. No, the absolutely earth shaking and amazing thing is that He has, in Christ, chosen to save some of them.

Ok, I just realized there is something that I'd rather let people know.

If you're not a Calvinist, you ARE an Arminian. It is the default position and there's no getting around it.

You either believe TULIP (which makes you a Calvinist), or you do not (which makes you an Arminian).

Even if you only believe 4 or less letters of TULIP, eventually you will see the logical incoherence and become either an Arminian or 5-point Calvinist.

It's kind of annoying when Arminians don't believe they are Arminian.

Is it just me? Doesn't anyone else find this annoying?

I think that it is sad that we have strayed so far from what the
reformers suffered for and nobody thinks anything is wrong with that.

I'm having a Bible study at my place tonight. We are discussing...here it comes...THE GOSPEL! Our goal is to proclaim the truth of the Gospel, the whole Gospel and nothing but the Gospel (aka Calvinism, TULIP theology, absolute predestination, etc.)

I will keep what has been posted in mind. Pray that God guides us, Christ is glorified, we stay clear of vain arguments, the Spirit guards us from error and that we do not run out of espresso and lady fingers!

We will be interested in knowing how it went. Start a new thread to tell us about it.:)
