One step closer

Today I will be taking a step closer to God. I have decided to try to quit smoking. For me this seems like a way to get into deeper fellowship with God because it will require more contact through prayer and me relying on His strength and love to carry me through. God wants us to come to Him with everything. And I honestly feel that the more we give to Him the closer we become to Him. There is a bond that grows deeper just like it would if we went to a parent for help.

To me this verse expresses how I feel about trying to get free of something that has such a tight hold of me and my life.

Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

I want to draw closer to God and have Him help me to overcome this thing that has ahold of me. And I know that once this is accomplished I will have grown closer to the Father I love with all that I am. I look forward to this.
