I have noticed a few contradictions in the Bible. Is this because there is no ONE correct answer- for example could it just depend on the individual person or situation? I would like to know y'alls opinion on the condtradictions and the "one answer" question.

Thanks alot

I guess they really aren't contradictions. It's just small things like... God says not to kill, but he also helped out in certain battles (involving killing). I'm sorry... maybe I just don't have enough knowledge about the background.

I know of a few apparant contradictions.  It might be that you are misunderstanding the verses that seem to be in contradiction.  Maybe you could post some examples and we might be able to help you better.

God bless.

Welcome to the boards!!!!

For any apparent contradictions in the bible you should first examine several things:
-who wrote the book the "contradiction" is found in
-when was it written
-whom was it written to

If you have a study bible with an outline of the book it will give you this information. I have found that in most cases doing this clears up what I thought of as a contradicton. God bless

Mister

MURDER: the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought.

Who decides this law? Us? No, God. Thus, it's really; "thou shalt not unlawfully kill, based on My law".

Nothing can really be concluded here, since God's "law" about killing is not explained.

To me, murder=killing with the intent to kill. Just my personal belief. Thus, this would still be a contradiction by these means, which is why I don't take the bible (especially, if not only, the Old Testament) as 100% word-for-word truth.
