Recently a major politician, who may be running for president, gave a speech in which he made reference to the important significance of the pledge of allegiance of one nation under God. A few sentences later, he also went on to refer to the value and importance of the religious freedom within the constitution that gives the right to each individual to worship the religion or god of their choice.
There seems to be a contradiction and hypocrisy in referring to the allegiance of one god and at the same time supporting the existence of other gods.
If, on one hand, the reference to this one god is the God of Jesus Christ, The One and Only True God, then scripture makes it clear that there cannot be any other god. Any worship of any other god is blasphemy and a deception.
If, on the other hand, this one god is one that represents the belief in self will and the worship of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, then there is no contradiction with the belief in the freedom to worship the religion or god of ones choice.
Under the constitution on the United States it is illegal for the government to force or impose one religion on all the people. They can also neither show preference for any one religion.
However, if one were to look at the belief in the freedom of rights, one can quite easily see it to be a religion in itself, thus being contrary to its definition. The only reason that it is not seen as a religion is because it has not been labeled as such.
In reality, people worship it, live by it, work by it, fight for it, and die for it.
People desire it because they see it to be good, to be a way of peace, to respect human rights and universal values. They desire it because it gives them self-rule. However, people still need to lock their doors.
When Christ returns, He will bring forth Gods kingdom on earth. There will be Only Gods Way.
....only then will it be one nation under the True and Only God...with love for Him and our neighbor. No one will need to lock their doors.
