Agreed. For instance, we cannot act/think/speak like Christians until we become Christians (until God first makes us into wholly "new creatures" in His Son).

That said, Katie's quote makes sense in the context in which she said it (in the movie, Batman Begins). I believe in this case her line's meaning was more like, "you may believe yourself/claim to be one kind of person, but it's what you do that demonstrates who/what you really are, and what values you really have, etc.".

It's like what St. James says about people who claim to have faith, that their "claim" should only be believed when it's seen/proven/demonstrated/"justified" in/by what they do. That's the principle way, is it not, that we know whether ours (or someone else's) claim of coming to saving faith in Christ is true or not

Of course, we know that her character in the movie didn't have all the facts, that her friend, Bruce Wayne, was just pretending to be a wealthy, arrogant, drunk playboy at that point in the movie to distract the public from figuring out who he really was. So when he says, "that's not me .. inside .. I'm .. different", is when I believe she responds with the quote I posited of hers a few posts back.

Now that I write it out, it sounds a bit like a soap opera , but I really did enjoy that quote as it was used in the movie nevertheless

I'm glad you brought this up, because the point really needed to be made, especially here on a Christian forum. I actually considered not posting it for that very reason (that it might not be understood), but hey, we got to discuss it a bit as a result (perhaps adding something about the context/POV would be a good idea with such quotes in the future!)
