This thought occurred to me a few weeks ago and I haven't been able to put it to rest. What if the "one flesh" the Bible speaks of actually refers to children? What if the act of becoming "one flesh" isn't sex itself but the forming of a new human being who is a combination of the genes of both parents in literally "one flesh"? This idea probably isn't new but I haven't seen it here before so I just thought I'd throw it out there. Also I wasn't sure where to post this, but I chose the couples forum because my own situation is that I had two kids out of wedlock and am now engaged to be married to someone else. So if becoming "one flesh" means having kids together, would that mean I'm forever "married" to my kids' dad?
