  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The devil is not in charge of hell - he is the victim of it.

Matt 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you accursed people, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;

What the NT writers call "hell" -- John calls "The lake of fire and brimstone" in Rev 20.

God is the one that ignites hell and casts the wicked (including the devil) into it.

Matt 10:28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in fiery hell.

God "owns" hell-- He ignites it, He alone determines who goes there.

Nope.

It's kind of like the Hotel California. You can check out but you can never leave.

The devil is happy you are there and would have no interest in releasing you if it were even possible.

I looked it up and it's a line from a horror movie called Saw II. The evil person in it who holds people captive is referring to himself as the devil.

The verse some talked about Matt 25:41 where Christ is talking to the goats (not you and me) He did not say "hell" it was "into the fire the eternal, the having been prepared for the devil and the angels his". Earlier before this verse He talked about "hell fire" (Gehenna) Gehenna was located in the valley of Hinnom outside the city of Jerusalem. During that time of the Kings who did evil in the sight of the Lord it was the site of pagan sacrifices of children and had become the city dump so it was a fitting symbol of eternal torment in the lake of fire. So those that share in Satans rebelling against God's authority must also share in the punishment.

Rev 20:14 death and hell (Greek, Hades) are cast into the lake of fire. Hell is not where people are burning. As I read and understand it was a place made for Satan since there was no place in heaven found for him (Rev). A place where God is not there all darkness no life no hope no love on and on. Some would say God doing that was Him showing mercy. But matters not, what matters is death and hell will be tossed in the lake fire and there is no getting out there its over.

Some pearls, I doubt all that Satan can do is only limited to this world. Yeah there is a battel still going on that we do not see. So can you die and still be lied to shown something that is not real? We don't know we do know when a believer dies.. goes right to the Father. That again is all that matters is knowing Jesus Christ as lord that He died for you... everything out side of Him is a lie not true. John 3:16-17.. answer that call

Nope. Not true. Sounds like your friend watched too much Supernatural or some other fantasy-based television series.

Good to know that my "fantasy-based television series" guess wasn't too far from the mark.

I never quite understand how people hear something said in a movie or TV show and come away with thinking that's what actual religions teach or what actual religious people believe.

This reminds me of that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie End of Days, where the priest says that numbers appear upside-down in dreams, and so 666 is actually 999, and thus 1999 was the end of days. I mean, the movie was B-level schlock, and that's always fun. But some people legitimately see that stuff and give credence to it, and that baffles me.

But like, also, the devil isn't the Christian equivalent of Hades/Pluto, the devil isn't the warden of hell. The devil is one of the inmates. That's like thinking the guy locked up in the deepest, darkest cell of a prison is the one who has the ability to pardon you.
