  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

  • The rule regarding AI content has been updated. The rule now rules as follows:

Oddly, I haven't come across any christians who believe in OSAS that believe that they can do wahtever they want. If they believe that, then essentially, they do not have God in them, becuase that's what God does to us, He changes our heart so that we do not desire to sin. It's a matter of heart, not so much of action. Like, I sin all the time, and I pray every night that God would reveal these sins to me because they are not ok. They are terrible, and I really trust in God to reveal them to me. This is what christians shouljd always be striving for, to know that sin is wrong, and to be conscience of it and don't want to do it.
Believe me, you'll find 'em. They'll appear in your ranks rather suddenly, and then you'll have to deal with two fronts to defend the truth.

I think a number are running under the ministry term of "free grace" nowadays. That's not to say every "free grace" teacher is an antinomian -- but enough are to just keep yer ears open for a dislike or disregard for rules set out for our good.

But I understand the idea that some peopel may get [that?] out of OSAS. Many people who refuse to believe OSAS refuse to believe in the Perseverance of the Saints. They say this because they don't think God can change our wills (or has, for that matter). Perseverance of the Saints is the beauty of Faith Alone.
Absolutely! Corruption has a broad selection of ways to muddy the clarity of the Truth. One is by denying OSAS; another is by embracing OSAS but denying it changes our hearts, or eventually changes the way we act (cf Ep 2:10).

I've a feeling you know everything I'm saying, I just want it public so others will understand the Reformed position.

Works aren't a cause of our justification; but they are an effect, given time and events and the Spirit's work in our lives.

That's the impact of the Gospel in our lives, through the Spirit of God in us. God carries us to whole new realms of life and action, even though our mortal bodies will break down and die. And the Spirit will confirm this fact through our mortal bodies (given time & events).

What bothers me about the denial of OSAS is that they seem to think God is powerless in a person's life...
as if He isn't dwelling inside them, prompting the genuine changes in lifestyles.
Genuine faith PROMPTS the godly fruit---

Then exactly, the flip flop of it is Greasy grace ---
Pray your little prayer to accept God, then enjoy your same old life. (antinomianism)

BOTH are extreme distortions & exhagerations to this doctrine. & I agree, we're going to be seeing more and more distortions to doctrine as time goes on -
I'm really seeing God's truth attacked like never before (FROM WITHIN THE CHURCH):help: (wheat/tares)

Nice post, thanks for your clarifications:angel:
