Did anyone catch this on Tuesday night after Idol? Another episode airs tonight. It's a new reality show by Mark Burnett and Steven Spielberg that allows aspiring film makers to compete for a shot at a production package with DreamWorks. It was addicting from the first show, I really liked it!

my favorite movies from tonight were "Dance Man" and "Lucky Penny" :)
Lucky Penny was great -- I really like that guy, what's his name? Will?

My favorite, though, is Zach (I think - the one who needs to change his last name ;)) and his special effects. I think he's fantastic!

I watched most of last night.
My husband was in charge of the remote and
irritatingly I missed a lot of the films.

I liked the show a lot,
but I didn't make notes on who I liked so I didn't vote.

I definitely want to watch again.

I agreed with the judges every time.

On the Lot is on for one hour tonight on Fox at 8 PM.

I went to their web site and watched all the clips.
I liked Dance Man, Soft (Grandma?), Please Hold, A Golf Story, and Danger Zone.

Contrary to what the judges said, the fact that it was a mini golf tournament was mentioned by the announcer and on the screen, though I agree they could have shown the windmill or clown face or whatever at the 18th hole.

I liked Replication Theory, too.
I don't care for fart jokes,
but by the time he got to the Cave Men,
I was laughing out loud!
That was hilarious wasn't it? :D

The judges have seen a good amount of their work so far. Besides the initial entry film that got them selected for the show, they've each had to direct a scene in a short as part of a 3-person group, direct a scene on their own, and create the comedy short we saw last night. I might be missing one, but I think that's all.

Three people are being eliminated tonight.

What annoyed me a little was at the end of last week's show, they had just started the challenge where the 24 contestants had one hour to direct a scene. It ended with the Italian girl more than 30 minutes into her hour, and she hadn't shot any footage yet. Then this week, it started with 6 people already gone (down to 18) and we didn't get to see any of that challenge. I don't know what's up with that.

Weird.
I wonder if you missed an episode somehow?
They have a couple of episodes listed on their web site.

I think last night's challenge must have been hard because not only did they have to direct, but they had to write also, right?
What if you're a great director, but you're not a great writer?

The only reason I even know what a director does is because this year I started watching the "Director's Commentary" on some DVDs.
Joe Wright on Pride & Prejudice was extremely illuminating.

Sometimes the director wrote the movie.
I have found in those cases that the director talks more about the script than the directing, like in Sleepless In Seattle.

No, apparently it's just what they did. I saw two episodes last week, and the cliffhanger was Thursday night. The guy from RealityBlurred commented on the jump too -- he thinks maybe the producers changed their initial approach because the ratings were low?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! They were saying some of the films were bad because they didn't have a beginning, middle, and end, or they didn't like the toilet humor -- but that's a writing issue, not a directing issue. So I was wondering about that too.

I watched the elimination last night.
I liked the way they did it.
They let the bottom 3 go.
They replayed the films of the Top 3 vote getters.

Gone Home:

Carolina Zorrilla de San Martin
"Deliver Me"
- woman in birth on cell phone

Claudia La Bianca
"Blind Date"
- wearing a yellow shirt

Phil Hawkins
"Please Hold"
- Press 19 if you're being burgled

I liked Please Hold. I liked his close-up filming.
I personally love humor that pokes fun at computer message banks.
I really wanted to see his dimples some more.

Apparently, he likes horror and thriller type movies
so I won't be seeing any of his work.

Top 3 Box Office vote getters:

Jason Epperson
Getta Rhoom
- nerd in movie theatre goes to heaven and gets zapped to hell

Apparently, there was a lot of controversy about this film because Jason intended the guy to come across like a nerd,
but the actor must not have known that because he definitely came across like he was mentally-challenged,
so it offended people.
I felt it was dangerous territory, myself.

Will Bigham
Lucky Penny
- man finds unlucky penny

Zack Lipovsky
Danger Zone
- the safest lab in the world; seamless 360 degree shot
