  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is for all the non-traditional students to share their struggles and triumphs and to vent and do whatever you need to make it through your program!

Me? I'm 50; a MS student through my PhD in Emergency Management. I've taken off this semester for medical reasons, but as soon as I remover the 3 incompletes I have on my record, I will go back with 3 graduate classes in the spring and 2 over the summer. I'm going to be going nuts!!! I'm attending Oklahoma State University - Fire & Emergency Management program.

Looking forward to some support and fellowship!

What about you? Where are you going? What are you studying? How far until you graduate? Anything else you want to share?

Hi Lisa,

This is a great thread. I recently sold my business and retired, however, I am not one to sit in my rockyng chair or play golf every day lol. I decided to return to college for a "retirement" career. My target is to teach Biblical History at a seminary but I am also interested in teaching middle Eartern history at the college level. I am presently attending the University of Houston for my degree in history and teaching certifications and will be attending seminary for a masters in biblical studies. I do have degrees in Engineering with a minor in English and a masters in Engineering so thankfully I don't have to start with the core courses but get to jump to junior level courses. It's been a long time since I've been in a classroom though so I am having to adjust to habits of study and time management.

Anyway I will keep you in my prayers for both your medical conditions and your success in attaining your academic goals.

Henry

I appreciate this thread too, I'm going to be 50 in August and have just started school again. I spent the last ten years volunteering and working in the Mental Health field, and am happy to take some time out to learn some new stuff. PsalmToday, social work is a great field, I'd love to know if your working or volunteering somewhere, its amazing how many doors can open for people when they have supports that really care! God bless you!

I am 46 and starting an RN program in the fall. I am back in school because my husband died and teenagers are expensive. I have a BS in Bioengineering...but it was so long ago that most of what I learned is obsolete. I spent the past 15 years being a full-time/homeschooling mom.

I wish I could honestly say I'm looking forward to this. I do want to be a nurse...however, I was planning on doing this after the kids graduated from high school.

Final semester for a Bachelor's in Religion/minor in Psych here! Was supposed to finish summer of this year but got sidetracked by a cross-country move for a new job. Classes start 8/20. Have yet to decide about grad school. Looking at either counseling (tough to do the internship w/a full time job) or industrial/organizational psych. Does anyone know anything about Grand Canyon University?
