  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My father brought me home an alley kitten (Orange Tabby) that he found in the town he worked. I was seven at the time and "muffin" lived for 21 years! He was the King of the block, my friend/protector, and my bestfriend. When he died, it was traumatic, but, I have his memory alive with me all the time. He was a gift from God to get me through some hard times and I loved him so much. We had a lot of fun and laughs too!
My pets are my best friends...DH and I have a few strays that come to our door and they guard our house...each perched on both sides of the deck...they're wild but they come pretty close to us ...they purr and roll over...
I worry more about these little friends sometimes more than my indoor babies...

Just to talk about diseases older cats get...
I just found out that my 15 year old Siamese has an overactive thyroid... I thought she was on her way out..
her behavior had become very strange...
She is pulling her fur out...constantly eating... vomiting ...nervous as as cat...;)
Anyone else have this problem w/ their cat?:)

My Tav (who was also a siamese) was 17 when he passed away. My parents bought him for me when we were visiting friends in Ohio when I was only 5 yrs. old. He was very particular about people, but he actually liked my boyfriend (now husband) and even would sit on his lap! He passed away only a few days after my husband proposed. Tav was my best friend, and I still keep a picture of him in our living room. He was my 'beautiful boy' and my 'sunshine' :)

Now we have two more kitties, Rufus a grey and white male who is about to turn 5, and Freckles (but we call her Pooh) a brown tabby-with a beautiful face-who is 2.

What did he die of...other than old age?:)

I lost my elderly cats both within the last year. One was a seal tortie point siamese. I got her when she was about six or so from a co-worker. She was her mother's cat, and her mom was very ill and had gone into a nursing home. For the next year, I sent notes and photos every week or two, with stories about how "our" siamese was doing. After about a year, the old woman passed on. Her daughter sent me a long thank you letter, saying that she'd lived for those notes and photos I sent. That she hung every one of the pictures in her room, and everytime a note arrived she brought it down to the lounge to share with her friends there.

They put one of my photos of "our" cat on the coffin, and I knew that their love would last forever.

Kaley was a hilarious cat, and we had long conversations where I'd meow at her and she'd meow back. I loved her so much. Kaley just passed away at the beginning of this year. She was about 17.

My other cat was an orange male tabby. He died last year at the age of 18. He'd lived with heart problems all his life. He was a rescue who I adopted at the local humane society when he was about 9 months old. I had just separated from my now-ex-husband at the time. I got Ryan as a Christmas present to myself, and as company for myself and my other cat at that time. He was such a love. A big, handsome, love bug.

I miss them all.

Now I have five dogs (four are rescues). The love they give us is never replaced, but I find that my heart can always expand to hold another.

Rest in peace all of our beloved fur friends.

I have a 17 year old tabby who has been with me for 15 years. She has about as much energy as she had at the age of 2 when I found her. She is a cranky little thing but she has been that way since the day I found her. She was diagnosed with the beginnings of chronic renal failure but she has been hanging in there without any problems.
