Which is more important to study and why?

I study both every day. They are both important as they both address many different topics. Obviously, as an orthodox Christian I believe that the NT is more important for Christian living and that the Gospels are the centre of the Bible, but also as an orthodox Christian I believe in the whole counsel of God, so both Testaments are a feature in my daily prayers, readings and life. There is not a single day in the year when large portions of scripture from both Testaments are read and digested in my daily office (the set prayers and readings for ministers in my tradition)

I say... keep reading both until they blend into one body where there is no separation.. just a continuation of the story of redemption..

I agree visionary, it should not be about “Versus”.

From Genesis to Revelation there is one page that is put in the Bible by man. G-d did not ordained it ? Which page is it?

On the face of it, both are very important to study, but I would be a liar if I didnt say that I consider the NT to be more edifying and immediately relevent to the Christian, the Gospels and Letters form the foundation of our faith and our relationship, and that has to come first before we start delving into the Historical and cultural context of the OT

sort of this (at least the last part). Saying they are different things (things that can be vs.) promotes the idea that the NT is secondary or partial or an addendum rather than part of a whole story.

You have to have both! The NT would be very hard to understand without the OT, can you imagine someone finding out Yeshua and the apostles were quoting the beginning of the book yet not having it at all?!

And then we have YHWH telling us,

Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient timesthings that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,' Isa. 46:9-10

Can you imagine not having the OT to read from? how prophecy would look without the foundation of the prophets? Having the entire book is the only way we understand His plan for us.

shalom,
Mizz
