I have no dispute that Jesus was "made sin for us", but it is clear from Isaiah 53 that it was not his sin, but others sin for which he was punished. However, the 2 Samuel passage doesn't read like Isaiah 53; it sounds more like when the king himself sins.
Peace,
Daniel
i would like to get to the bottom of this.
im looking now at: Hebrews 1:1(nkjv) God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
so God spoke in various ways to the fathers by the prophets...then in Samuel: Samuel 7:14(kjv) I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
then in: Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
amazing! He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows in Isaiah so then it makes sense that "if he commit iniquity" would be written in Samuel. he bore our sins so its as "if he commit iniquity". therefore since this happened for bearing our sins :I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men since he did that.. this is the effect: The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
another verse:
Hebrews 5:5-11 (nkjv) 5 So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him:
You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
6 As He also says in another place:
You are a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek;
7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 910 called by God as High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, 11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
I must conclude that wise men have much to say and it is indeed hard to explain to us since we seem to be dull of hearing... what a mystery... such a bright light.. its beyond my comprehending.. i hope we may understand it better soon.
but yes.. i must buy me a greek interlinear bible soon
shalom to you
