  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I really love photo restoration of pictures from that time era...I have done a few that were of my grandma when she was very young. If you would like me to try and restore some of your pics that might have creases or lines or discolorations i would be more than happy to try!

Most of the pictures I have so far are in pretty good shape, but thanks anyways. I like imperfections in the photographs, it adds character and shows the picture has been through a lot, shows it's history. I wish I had a scanner so I could show some of the neater pictures I have, that's the next thing on my to buy list.

I can understand it showing age and character but sometimes creases and lines can make the photo not unrecognizable but distract from the key object.

Here is a picture that I fixed about a year ago. The lines running through her face were really distracting so i fixed it. This is my grandma, shes now livin' with God.

Yeah I agree with both of you. I like some of the old pictures with minor imperfections, but after looking at his picture that he fixed, those can are best corrected. :)

I do it all in Photoshop. Its a very complex progam that takes awhile to get used to using. But once you get the basics its very powerful.

Here is another one that I did. You can't really see how bad this photo was due to the size I made it put it has a lot of fold marks as I call them...This picture is really important to my family because my grandpas dad owned this pool hall and while most pool halls are thought of for where people go and drink and smoke his pool hall was quite the opposite. It was the cleanest pool hall around. But the second pool table in this picture where the guy is bending over is actually at my grandpas house. And someday when my grandpa goes to meet Jesus I will recieve that pool table along with the memories.

I just zoomed in on the sign on the right wall and it says "No Gambling on Games" I never noticed that before :D

I LOVE 'old' photography. At antique shops they often have old photos and post cards, as well as cameras and scrap books. I bought a brownie camera just recently.
My grandma recently moved into my parent's house, and she has a lot of old photos and yearbooks. I love looking at them, especially the ones of my grandpa when he was young! There is so much history there...
God bless,

RG, I love that picture!

Mac, I'm the same way...I find anything old to be fascinating, not only photography, but houses, antiques...just things that were part of everyday life. I love it. I just recently bought, from an antique store, an old schoolhouse souvenir booklet that must have been given out to students. It's from 1903-04 and has pictures of the school house (which wasn't far from where I live in PA) the names of the students, proverbs and inpspirational sayings...it's great. I contacted the local historical society where the schoolhouse was located, but they didn't know anything about it, which is interesting. I doubt it's still standing, who knows, I may be the only one that has a picture of it.

Wow, Meomy, you sound so much like me. Sometimes when I'm going past a house I get so drawn into imagining the people that lived there. I pass houses that are completely dilapitated and say "what a gorgeous house!". My folks think I'm crazy, but I just believe these places need some TLC. When I got married my husband and I had a choice of getting a new house or an old house... which do you think we got? Okay, okay, so we had a $400 heating bill last February, but it's worth it! Two of my babies were born here and I just walk through the house and KNOW that it's home.
The woman that we bought it from had lived here since 1936, so it hasn't been through many changes in ownership, which I like. All of the appliances are old and work wonderfully!

Oh wait... this is the photography forum. LOL You and I should chat sometime. :)

I love it so much because it makes you visualize the colors and makes you think more than a color photo...

Yeah, I know what you mean. Anothere thing I notice that all of the war pictures that aren't clear, or are black & white, they all cause you to think about it as though you were there, unlike pics of the current war situation.
