Anyone see this show on Netflix? In Japan, two and three year olds are sent on errands alone. It builds self esteem. They talk to strangers on their trips.

I'm not advocating anyone do this. Just interesting.

Different society. I still think that's a bit too young, and by a bit I mean a lot. But still different society. Never been to Japan but I'd imagine they are a lot more disciplined

Yes! I found that show, and I thought it was so cute! Yeah I definitely would not recommend doing that here in America, but it's cute that they have the kind of culture where they can do that there. Apparently they have been doing that there for more than 30 years!

I bet in the past like before modern technology children had to grow up fast like that and learn to earn their keep very early because there was too much work to be done. A 2 year old was probably out there milking cows. Long childhoods where children do nothing but play is a luxury of the modern age.

One thing that stands out - I envy their society for being able to send children of any age on an errand.

Anything happens in the US, the first question is where are the parents?

Derek Prince said in the 50's if a woman's purse got stolen, it was in the newspaper. Both men and women could walk anywhere night or day and be ok.
