have any of you ever found that a mess could melt your heart? Like this...

The other night, everyone else had gone to bed and I was going to vaccum the living room floor so I was picking up all the toys, and I couldn't help but just stop and notice the things that my 19 month old had done and the funny places that he put the darndest things. Like the chicken nugget that found its way in the VCR, or my wallet, with the help of two little hands that had found it's way in the trash, or the stash of french fries, cheerios, mac and cheese, the lid to a pringles can, his fingernail clippers that went missing a rock and a leaf that I found under his recliner when I moved it.
I mean, you know when you see these things, that even though it is messy, that he was up to someething and in his mind, he was really thinking things through, and you just can't help but stop and smile because your little baby isn't so little any more.

Does anyone know what I am talking about? Or am I alone in this?
What kinds of things do yours do that melts your heart?

I'll never forget one morning during the time my husband was in the hospital earlier this month. I was doing my morning stuff, when both of my girls (8 and almost 6) came up to me, and the older one said, "We made your bed for you, Mommy." Mind you, the bed was still pretty much a mess, but you could see the effort that they put into it, all on their own, just to make it easier for me during this time.

Needless to say, I thanked them profusely.

I love hearing about things like this. Children can be so sweet.

A couple weeks ago when I was suffering the effects of congestive heart failure and a flu bug at the same time, I was in the bedroom covered up from head to toe. My boy came in and looked at me. He reached up and touched my face and said "Mama?" and then he turned and walked away. He came back a few minutes later with his drink in one hand and a toy in the other and came in and put both on the bed in front of me. my heart melted right there. He would not leave my bedside for anything. He sat down there in the floor and played with the car that he brought me. I later got up and came and sat on the couch. He followed, sat down on the floor beside me again, and played. Then, right as I was dozing off to sleep, he said "Mama?" "What is it, son" he looked up at me with his big blue eyes and went back to playing. a little bit later, he said once again "Mama?" "What is it, Bubba?" I asked. "I Vuv Vou" he said and reached up once again and touched my face.

Later that night, I got so bad that my husband took me to the ER and my mom and dad came and sat with my son while we went. We have a glass door, and he went to it and cried as he watched me get into the car and leave. He couldn't understand why mama had to go.

Kids can be such a boost at times.

This last week I've had to be out of the house alot so both of mine have been at various families etc. On Thursday I was allowed home early and when I got home I had to go use the toilet. This coincided with my ds waking up from his sleep. He came running out if his room into the bathroom and gave me the biggest hug ever. This from a boy who doesn't always like giving hugs!!! It made my having to be out all week much more worthwhile.

Yesterday we attended a Special Needs workshop. The kids were well looked after in the gymnasium and while we were waiting between sessions, our autistic son came out of the gym with his helper, saw us in the hallway and actually introduced us to her! He's 14 and he'd never done that before! He saw his helper as a new friend and she was real polite and followed through with the "nice to meet you" even though she knew full well who we were. Oh, that just made our day! :D I think the helper read the big surprise on our face too! lol
