There is nothing stupid about it. It is natural for many new Christians to feel the same. In fact, you are helping other new christians who may read this thread and be benefitted.
If anyone says the prayer of accepting Lord Jesus Christ into their hearts they may not really get any special or supernatural feelings.
It is by Faith we believe that He resides in our hearts, when we have invited Him into our Hearts. And that He will start the good work of salvation in us and in our life.
We need to go by Faith and not by Feelings when it comes to Christian Life. The Bible says "
The Just shall live by Faith" not by sight nor by feelings. That means, by Faith in the Word of God. If the Word of God says God will forgive us if we repent sincerely then we are sure that God has forgiven us when we have repented sincerely for our past sins. This surety is simply by Faith or Trust in His Divine Word.
It is through a simple child-like faith in Him and His Word that we grow faster in Faith.
If we look at our feelings then we may get all kinds of doubts and our faith is perturbed. This is nothing but our own mistake of depending on our feelings. This kind of mistakes have been committed by most Christians and we all learn from such mistakes.
When we recieve the Baptism of Holy Spirit (or Holy Spirit Filling), then, we may experience something supernaturally which would uplift our hearts and make us Holy and Spiritual.
I have read about a Man of God who also did the same thing like you (i.e of praying to be saved a numerous times) until he could get the Faith in God's Divine Word. Now, he is one of the leading elders in his Church and has written Books and Articles on Victorious Christian Living which have been a blessing to many ( This is his website

Lord Bless You.
