Hey, you did it and were sincere, right? The miracle is you don't have to feel something for it to be true. God said He'd do something and He will do it whether you feel it or see it or not. Sometimes you will get feelings, and they are truly awesome, but you can't rely on those. Rely instead on reading His word, which He will keep every time whether we can see it or not.

This is kind of a life long lesson, and you're on level 1. There will come a day when you don't doubt your salvation, but you will doubt something else, and it will be harder. But you'll be able to overcome that too, and He'll test you again on a higher level. The reason for this is He wants us to live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) and to grow in our faith (2 Peter 3:18).

And now, for what you're probably wating for - verses to memorize.

"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory." - Ephesians 1:13-14

"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." - 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." - John 5:24

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." - John 10:28-30

There is nothing stupid about it. It is natural for many new Christians to feel the same. In fact, you are helping other new christians who may read this thread and be benefitted.

If anyone says the prayer of accepting Lord Jesus Christ into their hearts they may not really get any special or supernatural feelings.

It is by Faith we believe that He resides in our hearts, when we have invited Him into our Hearts. And that He will start the good work of salvation in us and in our life.

We need to go by Faith and not by Feelings when it comes to Christian Life. The Bible says "The Just shall live by Faith" not by sight nor by feelings. That means, by Faith in the Word of God. If the Word of God says God will forgive us if we repent sincerely then we are sure that God has forgiven us when we have repented sincerely for our past sins. This surety is simply by Faith or Trust in His Divine Word.

It is through a simple child-like faith in Him and His Word that we grow faster in Faith.

If we look at our feelings then we may get all kinds of doubts and our faith is perturbed. This is nothing but our own mistake of depending on our feelings. This kind of mistakes have been committed by most Christians and we all learn from such mistakes.

When we recieve the Baptism of Holy Spirit (or Holy Spirit Filling), then, we may experience something supernaturally which would uplift our hearts and make us Holy and Spiritual.

I have read about a Man of God who also did the same thing like you (i.e of praying to be saved a numerous times) until he could get the Faith in God's Divine Word. Now, he is one of the leading elders in his Church and has written Books and Articles on Victorious Christian Living which have been a blessing to many ( This is his website http://poonen.org/zac/ ).

Lord Bless You.

I've been a Christian for just about a year now and I've been through the same thing. In fact, I got into a somewhat heated discussion on these forums with another individual who felt that unless I felt and showed absolute joy, I was probably not being a true or real Christian. It was pretty demoralizing for a while, until I realized that things just don't work that way.

I was listening to a Christian preacher a couple of months ago on the radio. I've listened to him almost every day for several months now, and I feel I've learned a great deal from his messages and teaching. Anyway, one day a couple months ago, he said that he had been a Christian for about 20 years, and when he said the prayer and decided to follow Jesus, he expected some rush of feeling, some overwhelming joy, just... something. And it didn't happen. He spent a while thinking there was something wrong with him, that maybe he wasn't a Christian, until someone finally explained to him that if he had felt those feelings, he would have "proof". And faith isn't about proof. It's about believing despite the lack of proof. Blind faith, in other words. As he grew as a Christian over the years, he began seeing more evidence of God working in his life, and he felt confident and assured of his salvation. After a year, I'm starting to see these things and feel that confidence myself.

So it will come. If you were sincere when you said the prayer, it will come. Keep reading the Bible and praying and growing in your relationship with God, and you'll start to see and feel the evidence in your life. Just don't let anyone tell you that you "have" to feel a certain way in order to be a true Christian. They would be misguided in doing so.

I have asked Jesus to come into my heart and to be saved numerous times. I don't feel anything. I know he's their, but I just don't feel that he hears me.

Huk,

Hi, I noticed from your bio that you work many hours..Has this caused your prayer life to suffer? Remember our relationship with Jesus, is two way! When I look back on the periods of spiritual dryness in my life, I noticed a pattern of lack of prayer.

Many busy people with heavy workloads, have found ways to incorporate prayer into their day; and when they have suceeded they discovered that Jesus was there all the time, just waiting to be included in their day. It is actual a deeper relationship than just setting time aside for prayer, which is to suggest you just schedule God an appointment. Although, having said that...setting aside time for prayer, is usually where one starts when trying to deepen their prayer life.

I started with just setting aside few mins in the morning and right before bed..it was a real struggle, because I had gotten to such a place of spiritual dryness...that I even lost my desire to pray! I ask Jesus to help me with this, and that I wanted a deeper more meaningful relationship with Him..and to give me gentle reminders thru the day to pray.

Have you talked to your pastor? My Priest is the one, that got me back on the right path..I went to talk to him, told him how I was feeling...and he responded "you probably aren't praying enough"...I reflected a moment and saw that he was right!

Anyway, Peace be with you...Pam

P.S. I will remember you in my prayers! But one thing is for sure, Jesus loves you!!!

Went through the same thing, asked a similiar question myself.
I was waiting for the bright lights, music.. something.
But there was nothing... Just myself and I had to realize for myself..
As days went by, I started getting convicted of my BAD HABITS.
Someone here once told me. If you're doubting, then you are saved, because thats satan making you doubt, He is already fighting to get you back on his side.
Im glad I can give someone else the same advice. Everytime he makes you doubt, tell him to get behind you and move forward. Read, Pray and (if you haven't yet) Find a good Bible based church.. and tell EVERYONE about your Savior.
God Bless!!

That's a good start. It means you want to follow God.

Let me ask you, have you ever confessed your belief to someone? To a friend, maybe, or in public? If not, then have you been baptized? I would recommend doing so if you haven't; baptism is important because it is an appeal to God for a clear conscience, and if you confess your belief during baptism you will be witnessing at the same time.

Do you understand how we are saved? Check out Ephesians 2:1-9. We are saved by grace through faith. Do you have faith in God? That is crucial. I used to pray, thinking that God wouldn't hear me, or that I would have to pray the "sinner's prayer" over again because I had done something wrong. But I finally realized that I must have faith in God. Faith that what His word says is true; that He will not turn His face from those who earnestly seek Him. Have faith that He hears your prayer; have faith through the good and the bad, because God is faithful.
