  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I thought it would be best to drop a hello in here. My name is Joe. I am a former Ranger qualified paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, 2nd Battalion (Falcons, Hooah!)

I served in Afganistan and Iraq. I saw action in Fallujah, Ramadi, Tikrit, Baghdad and a few *other* places.

I was a heavy gunner/demolition specialist.

I have been diagnosed with PTSD and I have taken the appropriate steps to find help...For you vets who thought like I did, (ie. 'I don't need to talk about it..I can handle it on my own. That's not how Rangers Lead the Way') I will say that for you Soldiers out there...In order to Lead the Way it means you have to do things that aren't pleasant or entirely fun. For me, walking into the therapist's office was harder than Airborne School and R.I.P combined (R.I.P = Ranger Indoctrination Program)

Either way..I'm here...I'm curious about who else around here served and to what degree and regardless of your MOS or specialty..Everyone is important. For every Ranger kicking down a door, there are 75 other people helping that man along the way.

So whether your a mighty sea bee, always faithful or leading the way...I wanna hear from you!

RLTW....ATW

Hi Joe!

I'm an 88M (truck driver) currently working in a 42A (admin) position in Kuwait. I'm an assistant supervisor at an army post office. This is my second deployment. I spent my first rotation in '04 driving all over South-Central Iraq bringing supplies to coalition soldiers from all over the world. Combat-wise, it was a fairly uneventful year, and for that I'm grateful. I spent more time on the roads than I did inside the wire, so my nerves were constantly on the fritz. It was an amazing experience though, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'm sorry to hear about your PTSD. I know a few guys who have to deal with that. I can only imagine how hard it is. You did the right thing by getting help. There is absolutely no shame in that.

Edit: sorry for the double-post. My computer freaked out on me when I tried submitting the first post, so I didn't think it had worked. Mods, feel free to delete this extra one.

Me personally...I'm an atheist. But, regardless of your faith..Keep what you believe in strong, but keep your head down. Hooah?

Stay sharp, solider.

Hi... I'm currently just at a range in Ocean Side for recruits basic marksman training. I used to be in 1st Force Recon. My first deployment I was in 3/4 and was the anti-armor team. Then I did the Force Recon and got in. I was in on the invasion, I got to shoot a tank and we were kind of like every where the 1st deployment but mainly Tikrit(bunch of Saddam loyalist zzz) and on my second I did Fallujja and Najaf. My 3rd tour was my Force Recon tour, we where a lot of places.
