CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The one big mistake of my life was leaving Ohio. I mean, even though I am a native New Yorker, and a New Yorker through and through, I fell in love with Cleveland. The whole ethnic shtick.....I went to Slovak picnics, and German restaurants, and Slovenian restaurants, and events in Slavic Village, and the Polish and Ukrainian Churches!
I really FELT Cleveland at night.....there was "my" special place directly behind St. Theodosius Cathedral on Starkwether Avenue, I'd stand and watch the factory smokestacks belch smoke down below, and there were a lot of them...and just feel the strength of that city. I also lived in Elyria, which was nice, but I hung in Cleveland. I would definitely go back to Cleveland if I could and could get a job there.
Ohio people are the friendliest in the world. I was so emotionally "in" to Ohio that I kept Ohio plates on the car 10 years after I moved away.
I also lived in Columbus. Ugh. Nuff said.
Used to go down to Cincinnati regularly, just to get out of Columbus. I loved Cincinnati and could live there easily. Beautiful city. Wonderful, alive downtown. And the Cincinnati chili!!! To die for. 5-way, of course.
I always used to get angry when someone would put Cleveland down, or Ohio or Ohioans. It was the most wonderful place in the world(outside of New York City, of course!).

Hi Steviedee. Clevelands great. I dont go downtown very much..or as much as I should like....its a great city. I live kind of near Elyria. What I like about Ohio is that you can go a few minutes outside a city..and be in the country. ya know?

Sometimes. A little while ago, I had to reload the page about 5 times. It's probably because of all the smileys and pictures. Hello Everyone
I am from Leipsic, Ohio, Putnam County, about an hour south of Toledo. Grew up in Bellefontaine, Ohio, moved to Urbana, Ohio a day before graduation, then to Columbus Grove, then to Toledo, then back to Bellefontaine, then to Portland, Ore., and now then ottawa, then to Leipsic. alas, i am a nomad, lol. but now I am in Leipsic for now. Ohio isn't so bad. i know i personally don't like my hometown, but i have grown out of the hate syndrome, to just a dislike. i used to not want to live in Ohio, but i am learning to like it more and more. well that's for starters i guess for the ohioian thread God Bless you all! <><
