  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh so many questions

well, I havent told you the other half of the truth. Heaven is good, and hell is not. Heaven is meant for those perfect, hell is for those who are not perfect.

Thanks for clarifying that for me, I was a bit hazy on that point.

From what it seems, humankind cannot get into heaven, and will therefore go to hell. If this were the end of the line, I too would be in the same boat that you are in. I would regard this as stupid and walk away from Christianity, but I have not. -VC

The funny thing is I would be more likely to accept "Christianity" were it not for the divinity thing. Sure Christianity without divinity is kinda like scotch and water without the scotch but hey water is better for you on its own.

Again, it gets back to the point I made earlier. With this kind of logic you can be, do, say anything you like through out your life as long as you see the light on your death bed your in!

It has been said a number of times in this thread… That without belief in the divinity of Jesus what would be the point in leading a "good life". Perhaps I am just twisted but is becoming more and more obvious that it is actually the other way around. If you do accept Jesus regardless of when, you are saved,:prayer: so what would be the point of living a "good life" if you can be saved at the bell?

But when will that bell ring? Nobody knows, but we all know it eventually does ring. What if you are not on a "deathbed", but rather in an accident and there is no time? I pray that wouldn't happen, but it does happen to people. I only bring it up to spur you on in your considerations of Jesus.

From my own experience, I've lived both lives: One with Jesus, one without. I prefer my life with Jesus than the life I led without Him. Without even considering being saved or living a "good life" to get to heaven, it is just a sweeter experience to go through life with Jesus. If there was no heaven or reward for believers, I would still choose my current life.

So let me get this straight. I am a bad, nasty, horrible person and will never be a good person with or without god, just that with god I will be rewarded in the end. hmmm may be I should start going to church and rob senior citizens for a living if it doesn't matter what I do.

No, No, No! The Bible teaches that when one becomes a Christian, they are a new creature. God begins to work on your heart and change your desires to be more in line with His will. We are to become more and more like His Son. Now, we are never perfect as long as we're on this earth, but we are striving to be.

If someone claims to be a Christian but lives their life in rebellion toward God without any remorse, they are probably not a Christian. See, once you are born-again, you no longer have the same desires. You still sin (hopefully less and less), but you're trying not to, with God's help. It's the difference between Justification, which happens at the moment you put your faith in Christ, and Sanctification, which is a lifelong process.

I hope I'm making sense.;)

I can say it, and mean it. But I weep for those who will be surprised on Judgment Day. I fear many of them are my loved ones. My husband is unsaved, but he knows it. Even if one knows Judgment Day is coming and you're not prepared, they still have no idea what is in for them. This saddens me deeply and I wish it weren't true. :(
