No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. I am a huge fan of Marvel and X-Men are the best out of that super hero factory. Love them. The trailer for Days of Future Past is awesome. Even Halle Berry's screen time looks good and I really did not like her in the role of Storm ( a tall black African woman ). I don't know how they made that choice. I did not see Kitty in the trailer but she is noted as being in the movie, hope she has a big role. I must say I am tired of X-Men working together with Magneto and his gang. They need to make a movie where we don't have to see a liberal theme.

What do you think?

There is a very brief like 2 second scene where you see hands on Wolverines head with two blue orb type things. People are guessings that Kitty teleporting Logan into the past. We know for sure Logan goes into the past and into his younger body in order to convince the young Xavier theres a bad future ahead and he (Xavier) needs to help change it. At some point Xavier uses his abilities to look into Wolverines head and sees his future old self (Xaviers future self) and we believe he realizes Wolverine is being honest and tries to change the future. Mind you this is all speculations since the movies are growing farther from the comic book stuff.

One thing we are trying to figure out is why Wolverine has adamantium claws since he now has bone claws again in the future. Either that or the claws we seen in the trailer are of him in the past. BUt that wouldn't make sense either since he hadn't received his adamantium claws yet. The maker of the movie did say the movie doesn't have its special effects and CGI done just yet so maybe the claws we see are just temporary fake ones until the CGI on them is done.

The Xmen movies done by Fox typically stray from the comics and have some disappointing changes (like Deadpool in the first Wolverine movie) so I am simply going in with moderate expectations. Trailer looks good, but I have seen some photos of the sentinels that look less than impressive. There is a lot of discontinuity in the timelines of the previous Xmen movies, so it will be interesting to see how this one deals with it - since they appear to be merging the previous movies with Xmen First Class.

From what I understand they wanted the basics of the comics, but the movies are more based on an alternate universe type deal. Kind of like a reboot of the comics. I was disappointed about Deadpool to. He went from amazing in the comics to kind of stupid in the movies. Obviously though there will be a deadpool movie judging by the fact hes still alive (as he should be) at the end of the one movie with his severed head.

Yeah I was crushed when I seen the sentinels too. THey look to basic like every other robot now and kind of weird. I also was hoping for the gigantic ones from the comics that were the size of buildings. Not sure if those are later models or not.

I finally got around to watching all three original X-Men movies recently.
I've seen part of Origins, but I have yet to see First Class or The Wolverine.

I'm actually looking forward to DOFP :)

I've never read an X-Men comic though.... Lol the only comic exposure I've had was when Wolverine was in an Avengers one for like 2 seconds.

So with that in mind, I really can't comment on if I'm "disappointed" about anything in the trailer (ie the sentinels because I don't know what they are! :D)

But I'll probably be seeing this

Apparently FOX has announced that after XMen DOFP, there will be a tie-in sequel, Xmen Apocalypse. Apocalypse as a character is a powerful mutant from Ancient Egypt (with too many storylines from the comics to describe here.) I consider him to be similar to villians such as Thanos (from the Avengers) or Darkseid (from Superman comics and animation.) The movie will apparently focus on the XMen First Class characters and likely involve time travel and introduction of some new heroes and villians from the Xmen comics that haven't been used yet.

I guess you lucked out because you never read the comics. Did you watch the animation?
The scripts and direction, especially for the action, was not that great in the first 3 X-men movies. I still hate to see who they cast as Storm. She is a very tall African woman, with a strong African accent. Halle Berry can't act.
But I digress.
The best movie in my opinion is First Class as far as the script, and directing. Even though the acting was better in many ways in FC, except for some aforementioned insults to certain heroes, the actors playing Magneto, Xavier, Wolverine and Shadow are the best so far.

Nope, I've never seen the animation lol; my only exposure to the X-Men universe is literally from the movies. I thought they were pretty fun to watch. I'd say I like the first one the best (although the end fight was pretty lacking) and I enjoyed the second one a lot too. Last Stand was.... meh. I see why a lot of people hate it lol.
Origins was pretty bad from what I saw. How did the CGI get THAT bad?
I've definitely heard a lot of people say that First Class is the best. I'll watch it whenever I get the chance and I'd like to see The Wolverine eventually too.

I've thought about starting one of the comic series because everything else I've started reading has either ended or gotten stupid. Out of curiosity, do you have any suggestions?

I was an X-men fan back in the Silver Age (the 60s). I kind of followed them through the 70s and into the 80s, but eventually there were just too many X-men popping in and out to keep track of them.

And the Marvel comics universe has been rebooted a couple of times, not to mention having alternated a time or two.

I have not read comics in years. I always liked Marvel comics best but by now they would've had new writers. I say look for older copies if you could find them, from the 80's. Green Lantern had some very good stories as well. Those pennies you spend slowly add up though and each mag is written to draw you into 3 other ongoing stories so you end up buying more and more. Be careful with that, it's why I stopped buying them as a teen. You get all upset waiting for next week to come to get the next issue. So, starting with old story lines will help with that a bit.
Here you can take a look and tell me about it please if you start.

Thanks a lot for the link! :)
I've been looking for some older Iron Man and Spider-Man books because I love the more campy and "lighter" style that was common back then, so that's pretty awesome. And there's some X-Men I can try out in there too! :D
I don't have a lot of time to go through them right now (I have finals next week) but I'm sure I'll be feeling like an addict once I do start lol

Once again, thanks; I appreciate it!

Sorry for pulling the thread off-topic :sorry:

I'm hoping it'll be good. Since X2, it's been a 'reserved excitement' - I thought X3 was awful, Origins was downright crap (and a disservice to Deadpool and Gambit as characters who I'm a big fan of). However, first class was good, and the first two-thirds of The Wolverine were fantastic. Here's hoping DOFP can be on the level of X2.

I'm in total agreement with you about which films were good. I have lost just about all my excitement after finding out that this film wont have the same director who did First Class but the the boring guy who did the first three X-Men movies and the horrible 'Superman Returns' - the evil Singer.:o

I gotta disagree about Superman Returns - I don't think it's a bad movie in any way. I mean yes there's some plot issues, but what I love about it is that it's essentially a 1970s Richard Donner Superman movie in terms of pacing; it also has a fantastic score, some great sequences, and an outstanding Lex Luthor performance from Kevin Spacey.

Is it perfect? No, no where close. But it's a pretty good flick.

Just happened to be passing by this part of the forum for some reason. Saw this thread, thought I'd share :)

I LOVE comic book covers. Something about the covers. I no longer have these, but thought I'd share the scans I took anyway lol:

That's funny, I have a Spider-Man comic that also says "Everybody dies in this issue". Lol. But only one person died...
Referring to the second scan since I still can't post images :/

Aha, I guess I remembered wrong lol. Ok so the issue I'm thinking of is The Amazing Spiderman #687 but it doesn't actually say it on the cover. On the inside it says "Ends of the Earth part 6: Everyone Dies".

I SWEAR there was an ad or something for that issue that said everybody dies on it (and that's why I thought it was on the cover) but I just looked through all my other books and I can't find it
So idk why I thought it was on the cover.... But yeah, ASM 687 was it ^_^
Not that it really matters lol
