CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ah, the silliness of the dating methods. It is all about picking what ever date you want from any of several different methods, so that the age of your artifact fits the timeframe you desire.RichardT said:

Joseph was 110 years of age when he died. This is literal, but the ages given in Genesis 1-11 are not literal? Preposterous.
Likewise, Jacob knew the answer when Pharaoh asked him, "How old are you?" God knows the answer when we ask hiim "How old is the earth?" He has answered plainly in the Scriptures. I Kings 6:1 is a known date, and it is 480 years after Israel came out of Egypt. We know how long they were in Egypt and we know the ages of the patriarchs, from Joseph through Jacob to Isaac and Abraham, and back through his line to Shem and Noah and the pre-flood patriarchs. The earth is about 6000 years old.

So many things we measure show that the unverse is a lot younger than non-YECs say. I remember reading about how the moon is moving away from the earth at a certain rate... let me see if I can find something online about it.
