Time to educate the !

Let's get a comprehensive list of backstory connections going. I'll keep this first post updated with what you guys remember that I don't and the new stuff we learn this season.


What we know

1) Libby lent Desmond the boat that got him to the Island.

2) Libby was also in the same mental hospital as Hurley (and she remembered this fact.)

3) Ana Lucia helped Jack's dad meet a mysterious woman in Australia.

4) Kelvin used Sayid to get information out of a fellow Iraqi during the Gulf War.

5) Sayid also met Kate's father during the Gulf War.

6) Locke worked at the box company owned by Hurley under Hurley's former boss.

7) Rose, Claire and Eko all met the same psychic.

8) Rose knows Locke was paralyzed.



What we strongly suspect

1) Locke's father was the man that conned Sawyer's mother.

2) Jack's met his wife after she was injured in the car accident that killed Shannon's father.


Wild theories

1) Claire is Jack's half-sister by means of the Australian woman that his father visited.



I'm sure I forgot a lot. Help me out.

Kate's mother served Sawyer in her diner. That's not really important, but it's a small connection.

The psychic that told Claire she had to keep the baby is also the psychic that Eko spoke to about the girl who died and was revived.

Locke dreamed of Eko's brother which helped them find the ? hatch.

I know there has to be more.

In Jin and Sun's apartment, the t.v. showed Hurley winning the lottery.

Sawyer spoke with Jack's father at a bar right before he died.

if I remember right...

Hurly's boss at the chicken shop was Lockes boss at the box factory. (Dunno...is there some sort of genetic predisposition to meaningless middle managment jobs?)

Desmond and Jack knew each other from the stadium.

Sawyer and Jacks dad got drunk at the bar in Australia.

Eko investigated Claires psychic.

When Shanons dad died, she was taken to Jacks hospital. Jacks wife was injured in the same accident that killed Shanons dad.

Bit of old speculation from the ABC board: The watch that Jin was carrying was intended as a gift for Hurly.

New bit of speculation flying around elsewhere: `Zeke' is actually the `original' Sawyer (which might explain the disguise - it was to prevent the current Sawyer from recognizing him).

Just curious...why do we strongly suspect that Locke's father was the man who conned Sawyer's mother?

I also don't know how we know that Hurley owned the box company where Locke was employed. I know I'm forgetting something, but just can't remember what.

Thanks a lot! I did remember about Locke working at a box company, but not about Hurley owning one.

Sayid was on tv when Kate was visiting her step-father at the recruiting station.

Rose knew Locke was in a wheel chair (at the airport)

Rose and Bernard went to the same psychic that Claire went to and Eko investigated.

Thanks for the input. I'll update the original post. I'm going to keep it mostly significant connections and relationships between characters (things that might be important when found out later), rather than ALL incidents and cross over moments. For instance, Kate didn't even notice Sayid on TV and it didn't really mean anything to her. It's unlikely that that particular connection will be important later. On the other hand, if the Sawyer/Locke connection turns out to be true. It's going to be a BIG deal.

On the Sawyer/Locke connection, I believe it's mostly conjecture from Sawyer's mom being conned and Locke's father being the master of all con men. I think there might have been more evidence, but I don't recall it off hand. However, among LOST-files, it's considered to be pretty certain.

I thought he was a "healer" and not the same one that Claire saw

The NUMBER connection!

The man in the hospital is repeating the numbers.

Hurley plays the numbers in the lottery and wins

Locke finds the hatch with the numbers on the outside.

Hurley sees the numbers right before the hatch door is blown off.

And of course, the numbers have to be entered into the computer.

the numbers turn up all through the show. Start with the flight designation: Oceanic flight 815 - 8 and 15). Which departed from Gate 23. Reward for capturing Kate was $23,000. When Lockes mother first meets him in the toy store, she asks about footballs. Locke tells her one sort is down aisle 8, the others down aisle 15.

Other sites I have seen long concordiances involving the way at least some of the numbers turn up over and over again in the lostaways life.

Leave it to you, Thinker! I really had NO idea that the darn numbers are just everywhere. Pesky little varmits, aren't they?

We've been watching the extra features on the DVD set and the numbers came up.

Oh yeah, and another teeny thing... Hurley and his friend went to the music store after they both quit their jobs and Hurley found Charlie's c.d.
