I am looking into starting some freelance work as a proofreader and editor. In order to do that, I'd like to gain some volunteer experience.

I have been reviewing books, with a company called Roundtable Reviews, for more than three years now. I have also been proofreading promotional materials prior to publication. I would like to offer my time proofreading and editing, in exchange for a reference to add to my portfolio.

I am a beginner, so please do not expect perfection. However, if you are interested in a pair of fresh eyes helping you out for free, I'd love to do that for you!

Hi! Sorry, I didn't get a notice about a response in this thread until just now.

I'm open to just about anything. My book reviews are varied in length and genre, so I'm not too particular. I suppose the only thing I'd like to avoid is something really explicit (language, sexuality).

For book manuscripts, I would be following Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition). If it's a research paper, I'd need to know if the instructor requires MLA or APA format.
