  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It didn't change the scripture at all.

Actually, a good deal of the movie was based on the visions of 2 17th century Catholic nuns. Pretty much all the extra Mary stuff.

And I didn't find the passion offensive so much as pointless. You have a guaranteed popular Christian movie and you waste it on a 2 hr death scene?

The crucifixon was always the most fascinating part of the life of Christ to me, even as a little child.

I appreciated the movie, and I'm sure many others did as well. There is no better scene then to portray the humanity of God and the great sacrifice involved. It's understandable some people didn't like it, though it's not possible to suite everyone's tastes and opinions, I'm afraid.

I was actually a bit offended by "The Passion of the Christ" , but I know other where incrdibley spiritually moved by it. God can use different things to speak to different people (Even "The Da Vinci Code" ;)). Just because it bothered me, doesn't mean I don't think anyone should see it. I can't think of anything else offhand that really offended me too much, though parts of certain movies did. Usually horrific violence, stereotypes, sexism, racism (primarily in older movies, but from a historical POV, I find it fascinating) is the culprit, but sometimes deleteing such things would detract from the impact of the movie. Uncessisary violence is a big pet-peeve though.

First of all, I think the poor originator of this thread has more than patiently defended his reasons for being offended at the Passion of the Christ (they were actually good reasons, even if I don't 100% agree) - so let's quit attacking him on that now, shall we? He's also 15 & making fun of his spellings and/or grammar is not very nice either. His views are very intelligent. :)

I'm generally offended by sex, unnecessary violence, and questionable language. As far as being blatantly offended for "religious" reasons, I'm obviously offended by the content of the DaVinci Code, therefore I will never see it. I've also heard horrific stories about "The Last Temptation of Christ", "Saved", & "Dogma", so therefore will never see any of those, either, LOL! I did see that horrible "religious" mini-series on t.v. last year with the nun & the anti-Christ.

Films with religious content that I have seen & surprisingly did NOT find terribly offensive to my beliefs are "The Seventh Sign" (older film with Demi Moore with unusual spin on the end times), "The Exorcism of Emily Rose (more of a courtroom drama & not all that scary), and my husband made me watch "Constantine" (with Keanu Reeves - rated R for scenes containing serious butt-kicking of demons, LOL!).
