CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Context, context and again context.
What evidence do you present that this is meant to be an example or instruction to us.
I see the lesson here that if we have the faith to step out, then Jesus will support us, we have to be consistent in our faith.
This is not a rebuke to those whose faith is weak or who lack faith.
Neither is it saying we should not have doubts or questions about faith, Christianity or the bible.
Jesus understands us, he knows are faith is weak and that we have questions.
We are to be able to give a REASON for our faith, that is we are to know what and why we believe.
The Christian does not say, " Just have Faith! " that is a stupid reply to a question, we are to explain and reason why one believes.

As someone who constitutionally is plagued by doubt of many things, I find it comforting that Jesus *immediately* reached out his hand to help him in his fear, rather than just leaving him there suffering. The rebuke came second.
